Awesome, Indestructible Tuner

By Jeff R.

from Springfield, MO

Comments about Sabine STX1100 Chromatic AutoTuner:

I've had this tuner since it was the newest hottest thing, right after it was first release. So over 15 years. It has been dropped, had drinks poured on it, kicked, knocked off stage, left in the trunk in 100+ degree heat and freezing cold, traveled thousands of miles all over the state. It has been used 4 nights per week playing as the house band in various clubs, and the other 3 days (or more) at home practicing or recording. It is missing both little metal clips (useless anyhow btw) as well as the battery compartment door. Most recently, it was stored in the case of one of my acoustic guitars for the last 2+ years. I recently dug it out to use in the bedroom for some alternate tunings. Right out of the case it lit up and worked 100%. I've been using it all week on the same battery. I can't say enough good things about this tuner. It is ultra-durable, 100% dependable, easy to see on stage (even from 5-10 ft away) and very accurate. I can hear the slightest warble of an out of tune string, and had always used Boss needle type tuners, and was very skeptical of this one, but it is very accurate and easy to use. If you own one tuner in your life, get this one, and you won't likely ever need another.

Comments about Sabine STX1100 Chromatic AutoTuner:

This tuner a survived ten years with a an active punk band. Millions of falls, drowning in beer, stomped on forever, this tuner has seen it all. Always gets me to the right pitch!

Great Tuner - Reasonable Price

By FumbleFingers

from Kansas City

Comments about Sabine STX1100 Chromatic AutoTuner:

After borrowing a Sabine STX1100 from another musician I purchased mine. It works great! I used a couple strips of velcro to attach it to the top of my amp and use it in-line. Would highly recommend it. My only concern is if the plastic case will hold up.

Not Easy to Work With

By Gordon Kaswell

from Eugene, OR

Comments about Sabine STX1100 Chromatic AutoTuner:

I've owned this unit for several years. There are positives and negatives. On the plus side you can patch into it, and output into your amp, so there's no need to unplug while tuning up your electric. The display lights are reasonably bright, so you can see what you're doing from a fair distance. The little clips for attaching the unit to a music stand are very handy. Battery life is pretty reasonable, and the unit is completely reliable, getting wonky only when the battery runs low. The plastic case seems sturdy enough, but it's nothing like a true, metal cased stomp box tuner. On the negative side, the unit doesn't always respond to the tuning changes I make on my guitar. For example, if my "D" string is reading flat, and I tighten it, often the Sabine will not show the pitch as having been raised. The work-around is to pluck a different string, and then come back to the D. THEN it will show the change. It's a consistent pattern for this unit, whether I plug in my Strat, my flat top, or just use it acoustically. It's a pain in the neck. I also found that my old $20 Korg tuner, while lacking the useful features listed above, is actually more accurate, technical specs notwithstanding. Bottom line for me is that it's not bad, but you might be able to do better.
