Centuries-old cymbal-making techniques, including "high-density" hand-hammering, were revived in the creation of this limited-availability, super-premium model. This traditional, labor-intensive style of cymbal making enhances the tonal complexity of the Artisan Ride by increasing the amount of hammer dimples dotting its surface. This method boosts playability and increases the responsiveness of the bronze.
This cymbal expresses a glassy, well-defined stick click with a rich wellspring of dark-edged tone bubbling underneath. It has a piercing bell and great crash capability. The metal used is secret-process B20 bronze from a formula invented almost 400 years ago.

Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Medium Ride:
Having won countless awards and praises from peers and prominent industry figureheads for their revolutionary HHX hammering process, HHXplosion crashes, and HHX Evolution series, Sabian is proving to the drumming world that they're not just another sheet bronze factory. This relatively new (as far as cymbal companies go) family of artists and manufacturers have collaborated together once again to combine their innovation with cymbal-making's oldest traditions to create a phenominal ride that not only projects well-defined sticking notes that cut through any modern rock mix, but shimmers with warmth and tone when struck as a crash. Prior to playing this cymbal, I found myself constantly looking for "that ride;" the all-important cornerstone of any cymbal setup. I have tried various cymbals: from Zildjian K Customs to Paiste 2002's, Innovations, and Dimensions, as well as Sabian's AA and AAX series, and have never encountered any that could be considered this cymbal's equal, aesthetically or sonically. Perfection is worth every penny.
