Sabian SR2 is a new concept in cymbals.
These cymbals are used, returned, or refurbished cymbals that Sabian receives back through inventory swaps, trades, exchanges. They are given their own unique surface look and logo and consist mainly of high-quality pre-played Sabian models, including those played by major Sabian artists, returned from consignments, reviewed in magazines, displayed at trade shows, or even cymbals that came through the production process with slight blemishes that ultimately disappear with the refinishing process.
Each cymbal must meet specific sound requirements before being considered for the SR2 line. Once those requirements are met, each cymbal is cleaned and then the new Sabian SR2 finish is applied.
The SR2 Thin Splash and others in the SR2 line have their own logo and a unique look, in order to clearly distinguish them from their first-run cymbal lines. Sabian believes it is very important for you to know exactly what you're getting when you buy an SR2 thin splash, so this cymbal has its own special identity to clearly identify it as a reconditioned cymbal.
All of the cymbals are cast B20 product, but there is no differentiation by series at all, so any cymbal could have started as an AA, AAX, HH, HHX, or Vault. The Sabian SR2s are designated only by size and weight.
The cymbals within SR2 are priced based on size only, rather than on the series they were before reconditioning. They are identified only by size and one of 3 weight categories. These cymbals are available to you at significantly less than a brand- new Sabian would cost, and will not be covered by any warranty through Sabian.
Note: Available supply of SR2s will depend entirely on the amount of cymbals that are available for reconditioning. They will be available on a first come-first served basis. Since they are refurbished, they will only be available as they are received. There is no warranty through Sabian on the SR2 Series, since the cymbals are considered used; however, these cymbals can be returned and exchanged through our normal 45-day return policy.

Comments about Sabian SR2 Thin Splash Cymbal:
From what I've read about the SR2 line of cymbals from Sabian, the starting place for each example could be any model across their professional line. That in mind, I was disappointed when I played this 10" thin splash; I figured if they're using a good cymbal to start with, the resulting cymbal should be somewhat musical...otherwise, why bother? This cymbal falls firmly in the "Why bother?" category.
When struck, my example produces a whispering, almost apologetic note that is more than happy to get itself over with and out of the way. Hitting it harder yields more of the same...it just flat refuses to cut through the mix of my kit. As I think about, this splash sounds almost exactly like the adorable little cymbal-shaped-object you find atop Junior's First Drumset...it's flat, transparent, uninteresting, bland, almost completely unmusical and not a cymbal I could ever imagine looking at in the middle of a song and thinking to myself, "There it is, that's the sound I want to go right here...the sound of a pot lid with a pillow case over it. Yes! Art and expression are one at this moment!" PLAHHhhh. < -- That's the sound this cymbal makes, and each of the times I've struck it has left me less inspired to do so than the time before.
I should add here that I have some experience with splash cymbals: I own an 8" Zildjian A splash that explodes with a chiming, melodic punctuation when struck at any reasonable velocity, emitting a sound that always sits nicely with the mix of cymbal brands and weights I have up at any given time. Love that splash. I also spent some time years ago playing a kit with a 12" Zildjian K splash that was extremely musical and articulate. Sabian probably should have spared themselves the effort of re-lathing this one and just sold it as a used cymbal in its original state. In fact, Sabian, if you're just ruining perfectly good used cymbals with this SR2 program, please stop.
