Comments about Sabian B8X Performance Pack:

I bought this pack for my son who is a beginner. I"m sure they are not top of the line; however, as a tone snob guitar player familiar with quality, I thought they sounded great compared to the previous set he had. The quality also seemed to be top notch. So I would recommend.

Comments about Sabian B8X Performance Pack:

This is a good cymbal pack for beginners like me but maybe not for serious drummers. I don't really have any qualms about durability because Sabian products last if you take care of them, but the sound is a little darker than I expected and the hi-hats don't really give a crisp kind of "chick" when I'm playing with them closed but open just enough that they can project sound (like in a regular classic rock kind of feel). Closed they are okay, open they are a bit too dark for my taste but its hard to get the sound I am looking for out of them. The ride and 16" crash are pretty okay. For me the saving grace of this pack is the O-Zone because it looks cool, it sounds cool (not too trashy or too dark), and it has the quick decay that I want in a crash cymbal. Props for durability and value for the price but if I had the money when I bought my first set I would have gone with the GC drum guy's recommendation and gotten then Zildjian ZHT pack instead. If you get these because you need a cymbal pack right away go for it, but you might want to consider upgrading later.

Comments about Sabian B8X Performance Pack:

Bottom line Sabian did a good job, Good price, Pretty good sound, and nice features. But there are some downfalls to these symbols, It starts with the simple phrase of "you get what you pay for". For the price point its good; they are bright, loud and responsive to a point. For someone just starting drums these are perfect, but for a more experienced player I would recommend something else. For someone a little more experienced say if you were recording or doing a professional live show these are not the symbols for you.
