Iۡm not a huge fan of the X-Plosion cymbals, however they donۡt suck...far from it. Theyۡre bright, cutting, explosive, & respond with little effortۡ_a cymbal that some might need/want. The 18ۡݕ_ X-Plosion has bright explosive volume, which is great if you need that type of sound, but it lacks versatility in my opinion. I was surprised that it lacked volume for an X-Plosion crash. SABIANۡs 14ۡݕ_ AA thin & AAX studio have more punch & volume in my opinion. But the X-Plosion was bright & glassy with fast decay. Best Crash on the Market

By Morgan the Vintner

from Portland, TX

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

If you buy this cymbal you will remove others from you kit. It is that good. I bought the 16 inch to replace a Zildjian I feel was a little gong sounding. It sounded great in the store but when I got it on my stand I was blown away. It has quickly become my favorite crash. My only negative feeling is that it is not as loud as my Metal X crash. I am planning to buy to 18 or 19 inch soon. Buy one yourself, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Honest review!

By pRo

from Washington

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I bought the 15" and 14" of these crashes. The 15" is very explosive and a great sounding crash with no hint of trashy ness to it. The 14" is not what I heard on sabian.com. It is really thick and doesnt have a very good tone. I wouldn't recomend the 14". I definetely would recomend the 15" They are both very durable cymbals. Get one now! No joke!

Perfect Addition

By Donny Ray

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

This is the perfect addition to my AAXplosion cymbal set up from 16",17",18",19" crashes. Simply the best tone projected from a top line cymbal maker. This crash in particular has a huge sound that I just can't get over! If you're new to AAXplosion then I suggest this 17" with a 19" of the same type for a great pairing of sounds. You won't be dissapointed by it! The only hurdle is that some stores might not carry it in stock to hear, so I suggest going to Sabian's website to listen to it first if you're unsure how it might sound. Sabain simply rocks!

Spans the whole spectrum...

By Zaylen

from Lost Angeles, CA

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I have had the 16" for a while and just bought the 19" recently, and the two could not be more different, yet amazing. The 16 is very bright, but with a great shimmery undertone that is superb--especially considering the price. The 19 is a whole 'nother monster. The best way to describe its sound is wet and loud. Thats not to say it can't be played with incredible subtlety (it responds to just about every dynamic i put it through perfectly). The intensity that it brings to your sound with its swelling beauty works with almost any style. Keep this bad boy away from neighbors...

Silence is no longer Golden...

By Drumhero652

from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

Because from now on Golden sounds like this. I'm not too experienced yet as far as my drumming skills and my ear isn't quite developed yet. But this is the GREATEST crash I have heard yet. It's brilliant and its attack is great. Its not the loudest I've heard but its loud enough. It will be the next cymbal I add to my set and I intend to replace my old crash which can't even compare to this one.

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I have the 15" and 14" they both sound great! When I was looking for a crash I wanted think crashes so they don't crack. These crashes are thick. They sound great and they are very durable. If you want to hear them go to Sabian.com. Great price for cymbals!

What cymbals should sound like!

By Gus

from Denver, CO

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

The AAXplosion line sets the bar for what cymbals should sound like. I've always been a Sabian fan but when I bought my first xplosion cymbal years ago, I knew I had found the perfect make of cymbals I was looking for. The xplosion line is perfectly smooth and full for riding on and yet also bright and powerful when you need them to be. I have a twenty inch that I use as my main crash/ride and an eighteen inch for my crash. I couldn't be happier with my cymbals!

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I have had this cymbal for about a month and i couldnt have anything better! No sign of cracking at all. the sound is a very loud high explosion(hence the name). But if your looking for a cymbal that will last then buy this.

Great - Darker Than I Expected

By drummerkid905

from Edwardsville, IL

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

Maybe it's just that I have it set up next to a 16" A Custom Medium Crash, but this thing isn't as bright as the title makes it seem like. Note that I have the 18" and the 14" is on its way. I wonder how the 14" will be as far as brightness. It's perfect for riding the crash, but for me it's not nearly as puncy as the A Custom for the accents. Just got it today - hope it lasts. 2 year warranty was definately a selling point

Simply one of the best cymbals on the market

By Shannan Johnson

from Dundee, OR

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

This Cymbal is a work of art, from the attack to the decay, everything seems to work well. But what shines above all else is the "tightness" the cymbal has, it has the response of a light cymbal with the power of a heavy one. I'm going to say that Jazz drummers may not want this one, just because it's so bright, but for anything under the umbrella of Rock, in particular Metal, this cymbal rules over all else. I have the 16" and 18" and a 20" is on the way. It's ability to cut through any band is a definite plus. These cymbals are even better all-around than the HHXs, so save a few hundred and pick up one of these instead.

Great sound

By Bobby

from Brownwood, TX

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I bought the 15 inch about 6 months ago and this past weekend it completely cracked out on me. I use all AAX series cymbals and even some of the thinner fast crashes so the last one I thought would crack would be this one. But...the sound of this series is superb!!! I play Texas country so we play a variety of music and these cut thru the mix well with very little sustain. I give it 4 stars because it was a great cymbal while it lasted. I guess I'll try something a little thicker now! lol

Bright and controlled.......AAX....must have on the kit!!

By bongogriffis

from Jacksonville, FL

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I have owned the 16" xplosion crash about 2 years now, very impressed! A former Ziljian man, converted to Sabian products 10 years ago with no regrets. I fiqure Neil Pert and Dave Weckl cant be wrong! I have a mixture of AA and AAX series in my set up and was looking for something with power and sustain without being too "gongish" for me the decay rate is perfect no matter how hard you strike them. Oh yeah and the raw unlathed bell is something special really adds that dry smokey flavor!! This AAXplosion series is a force to be reckoned with without being over the top brash and loud (see Metal X series if you want to slice your guitar players ears drums)Again great product, just not my cup of tea. If you want a versatile cymbal that will be heard without overpowering the music, I highly recommend these to any experienced player seeking quality tone, control and brightness to compliment your darker or traditional cymbals in your kit. Shoud be called Goldilocks not too heavy, not too light...........just right!!

Great... While it lasted

By lee todora

from Breinigsille PA

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I tried this 16" cymbal out at the guitar center last year, and fell in love with it. Absolutely beautiful sounding cymbal. I loved it up until a couple months ago, it cracked and eventually most of it broke off. It still sounds good for a cymbal that is broken in half, but I'm a bit disappointed. Im not a hard hitter either. so it didn't really make much sense to me.

I bought a brand new Sabian AAX 20" X-plosion crash cymbal from Guitar Center. I absolutely love this cymbal. You can play it like a ping ride and crash it too; great bell sound. i highly recommend buying the whole box set if you can afford it. If not, search for used AAX cymbals on the Guitar Center website.

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

I bought a 15in xplosion (new), 16in xplosion fast crash (used) and 18in xplosion fast crash (used). I bought the 16in over the phone I knew I liked the sound. The 18in I heard it in shop and the sound caught my ear. I also have a set of Zildjian A's 16 17 18 from 1986 and they sound darker. Now I have 2 sets that contrast ea other. The 18in had heavy finger prints on it. I was concerned that they wouldn't come off. I cleaned it about 10 times a couple of prints still won't come off. But overall it looks good. The 16 had not as much on it but after about 8 cleanings it came out pretty clean. I used nomad cleaner it's not a deep cleaner but it doesn't clean off the logos if you are careful and go easy on them. I took a chance on these cymbals (15,16 in) I didn't really hear them. I don't like to buy used because you don't know what you are going to get. But it came out alright. I got a good price on them total about $340 New would have been $750+.

Comments about Sabian AAX X-plosion Crash Cymbal:

Some of the best crashes i've ever heard. I bought a 15" AAX plosion crash, 16" AAX plosion fast crash, and a 18" AAX plosion fast crash new and used for about $350 (a great deal all new, it would have cost over $650) . When I got these cymbals they had a lot of finger prints. I used nomad cymbal cleaner on them--they finally shinned up after 6 or 7 cleanings. Be careful around the logos they will fade and come off. There are still some prints that won't come off. They sound great together--bright. I wasn't going to buy any more cymbals I have a set of zildjian cymbals from the 80's and they sound a lot darker--so it works out.

This is by far my favorite line of cymbals. I have used A customs and a few different models from Meinl and Paiste. I enjoy cymbals from each company but the aax line has ecactly what i am looking for. I am not a fan of smaller crashes but even the 16" xplosion sounds great. I am using that with a 17" fast crash and an 18" xplosion. I am looking to get a 20" xplosion crash as well.
