And imagine what a crash should sound like. Bright, shimmery, explosive come to mind? Well, that describes the AAXplosions perfectly. I own the 17" and the 19" and they are both awesome. The 17" is punchier and has less sustain, while the 19" is just a total beast. Loud as hell, yet very very muscial. Also both are extremely responsive. Tap lightly for a beautiful shimmer or bash them for an all-out explosion. Recommended for everybody

Iۡm not a huge fan of the X-Plosion cymbals, however they donۡt suck...far from it. Theyۡre bright, cutting, explosive, & respond with little effortۡ_a cymbal that some might need/want. But if youۡre looking for something rich with character and/or versatilityۡ_then you might want to reconsider. The 18ۡݕ_ X-Plosion has bright explosive volume, which is great if you need that type of sound, but it lacks versatility in my opinion. I like volume when I need it, but I also want controlled dynamicsۡ_something I feel I get from the AAs. And due to a rebate offer, I briefly owned the 14ۡݕ_ model. I was surprised that it lacked volume for an X-Plosion crash. SABIANۡs 14ۡݕ_ AA thin & AAX studio have more punch & volume in my opinion. But the X-Plosion was bright & glassy with fast decay. Now with everything Iۡve stated, its all opinion & preferenceۡ_every drummerۡs style & ۡ̏earۡݕ_ is different. I hope this review was somewhat helpful for those that are on the fence about these cymbals.

I was looking at this cymbal at the guitar center, and I instantly fell in love. I used it as a main crash, and I LOVED it. Though a year later it broke. Im not a heavy hitter by any means, so it took me by surprise. It was fun while it lasted though
I tried this 16" cymbal out at the guitar center last year, and fell in love with it. Absolutely beautiful sounding cymbal. I loved it up until a couple months ago, it cracked and eventually most of it broke off. It still sounds good for a cymbal that is broken in half, but I'm a bit disappointed. Im not a hard hitter either. so it didn't really make much sense to me.
Great sound and attack to it, the only problem I was able to find with this cymbal is the sustain, not quite as long as I would like which I guess would make it a great off-hand crash instead of your main hand. But overall this cymbals longevity and sound quality are totally mind boggling.
This cymbal performs very well in various situations. It has great attack and a quick response when you need it, and can also have a richer, darker sound too. It has a moderate decay and relatively smooth overtones. It is loud enough to cut through the loud guitars and bass I play with, and it sounds very good recorded. I've had it for two years without a problem; overall, it is a great deal.
I bought two of these crashes around december last year, 17 and 18 inch, I have noticed a crack on the 18 inch after having it for about 9 months. I hit quite hard, but I expected a longer life. Overall though, great sounding crashes.
I broke my 16 inch ZBT (suprising, right?) and needed a good, durable crash. i went to guitar center looking for a used zildjian, but the only used crash i could afford at the time was a 17 inch...i have to say i was estatic with it. it has a great feel and a nice, smooth tone. recorded it sounds amazing and i couldnt ask for a better cymbal. it makes a great addition to my 17 inch zildjian A medium crash. ive been hitting it as hard as i can for about 7 or 8 months and its still holding up, good as new. it sounds great in heavy alternative to hard punk to death metal, this cymbal is just well...perfect. i would recomend it to anybody, professional or beginner. buy it now, you wont regret it!
I recently purchased the 20" to be my lowest crash. It is a fairly heavy cymbal with a big sustain which I wanted to use mainly as a way of adding some power to my sabian vault v-crashes, which one matched up with perfectly tone-wise(Try out in person if you can because there was a lot of variation between the three 20" that where available in store). This cymbal has an excellent bell which also allows me to use it as a secondary ride which is another plus to this cymbal. Overall, these crashes are very durable, have good sustain and are perfect for any type of rock music. Just to let you know when comparing: the 19" size and smaller diameters seem to be a little thinner and are able to open up a bit quicker; the 20" needs to be hit fairly hard to open up on it's own, similar to many power crashes. Check them out in person especially for the crash-ride versatility!
I have owned the 16" xplosion crash about 2 years now, very impressed! A former Ziljian man, converted to Sabian products 10 years ago with no regrets. I fiqure Neil Pert and Dave Weckl cant be wrong! I have a mixture of AA and AAX series in my set up and was looking for something with power and sustain without being too "gongish" for me the decay rate is perfect no matter how hard you strike them. Oh yeah and the raw unlathed bell is something special really adds that dry smokey flavor!! This AAXplosion series is a force to be reckoned with without being over the top brash and loud (see Metal X series if you want to slice your guitar players ears drums)Again great product, just not my cup of tea. If you want a versatile cymbal that will be heard without overpowering the music, I highly recommend these to any experienced player seeking quality tone, control and brightness to compliment your darker or traditional cymbals in your kit. Shoud be called Goldilocks not too heavy, not too light...........just right!!
The AAXplosion line sets the bar for what cymbals should sound like. I've always been a Sabian fan but when I bought my first xplosion cymbal years ago, I knew I had found the perfect make of cymbals I was looking for. The xplosion line is perfectly smooth and full for riding on and yet also bright and powerful when you need them to be. I have a twenty inch that I use as my main crash/ride and an eighteen inch for my crash. I couldn't be happier with my cymbals!
I bought the 15 inch about 6 months ago and this past weekend it completely cracked out on me. I use all AAX series cymbals and even some of the thinner fast crashes so the last one I thought would crack would be this one. But...the sound of this series is superb!!! I play Texas country so we play a variety of music and these cut thru the mix well with very little sustain. I give it 4 stars because it was a great cymbal while it lasted. I guess I'll try something a little thicker now! lol
