This is the nicest sounding ride I have ever played. I have had mine for about 10 years and it just keeps sounding better with age. It is perfect for many styles of music. Although it is technically a "Rock" ride, it also does the job for jazz, and lighter styles of music as well. It is not so loud, that it is drowning out your set, but it has enough presence that you can hear every hit. You can really lay into the bell and get a powerful sound when needed, or you can play closer to the edge of the cymbal for more mellow playing. If you know how to work the cymbal, you can use this for any style of music.

I am not a fan of this ride. Luckily I didnt have to pay for mine. My friend was giving it away. It has a very dark heavy sound and a little too loud in my opinion. It is also waaaay to heavy. I like to crash on my ride a lot and this is not the cymbal for that. I break soooooo many sticks on it. Its like hitting concrete. But if you want a deep, dark, heavy ride sound you will probably like this cymbal

Sabian AA Rock ride 22"

By Robert Record

from Cincinnati, Ohio

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

This is an amazing ride. I have always heard praises on the 21". This was on sale used on Guitarcenter.com for $109.00. Couldn't pass it up. I own a AAX 20" stage ride which is as versatile in it's own respect. I also own the 21" HH RBDR, which is awesome, but I am starting to lean more towards the AA Rock Ride. If you can get one used at a fair price, I would say snatch it up you won't be disappointed! Good for rock to Metal.

The most versitle, vocal ride I've used

About Me Experienced

Pros

  • Bright Sound
  • Responds At Any Volume
  • Responsive Feel
  • Voices For Many Genres

Cons

  • Not For Use As A Crash
  • Not For Use As Crash Ride

Best Uses

  • Depending On Your Needs

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

I have been using this ride (21") for about ten years in different bands and venues and it has never dissapointed. It is like ten rides in one depending on stick selection, what part of the cymbal played and dynamics applied to it. I have used the 21" in bands from lounge acts to Progressive Rock to classic rock and even Country. This cymbal will respond as loud or soft as one wants it to. I can't see me using any other cymbal as my primary ride.
The cons I listed don't apply to me as I have plenty other cymbals for those purposes

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

Since the moment I first tapped the ride, I've been in love. This ride is versatile in any musical setting, obviously favoring rock and meal. This thing has one of the best bells around, along with a great feel and perfect stick definition. If you bash your ride occasionally like myself, I'd also recommend trying it. This is just an amazing ride, and I'd HIGHLY suggest you get it...

    good,but it rings

    By Timothy Koske

    from Columbia,MO

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

This overall is a good crash. It has a nice ping sound to it and it has a nice cutting bell.It is very thick and heavy so it doesn't crash well. The only thing I would change on this ride is that it wouldn't ring.It would be perfect if it had a shorter sustain.

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

I just got the 21" Brilliant Rock Ride after trading my 20" Natural Rock Ride for it and it was the best decision i've made in a while. Don't get me wrong the 20" is nice but it has alot of wash to it and it's alot lighter then the 21", the 20" is better for mellow Rock not good for the heavier stuff because it just gets lost in the song, the 21" on the other hand cuts right though no problem it's loud, Pingy, a bit clangy and has great stick definition. I recommend this ride to anyone who plays 80's Classic Rock/Metal or to anyone who likes the sound of this ride. Overall Awsome ride and would never trade anything for it !!

    going on 9

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

I aquired this cymbal about 6 years ago from my brother after he used it for 2 years and this thing is still like new. I also played a zildjian A ping ride that sounded great but it cracked after 2 years. The Sabian AA is VERY HEAVY duty and it looks and sounds great. It sounds awesome in the studio and playing live. It can handle any style and it will last forever.

    Almost perfect

    By yqtXSOklp

    from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

Got the 21" brilliant finish, it is heavy and beautiful to look at. I got it because it sounded like the best substitute for the ungodly expensive 22" HH Rock Ride. I was slightly disappointed in the stick definition on the bow and bell. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely my favorite besides the 22" HH, but it is just a tad washier than expected, and the bell is quite as loud as expected. Again, it still sounds phenomenal. Don?t get this if you have ambitions for a ride/crash, it is too heavy and not near enough wash. Probably the best pure ride for the money!

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

this is an awesome cymbal dont get me wrong, but it is to CLEAN for my taste. not a very good crashing ride but this makes and excellent ride for non-crashing playing. the bell i think should be brighter, but the bow is clean sounding. loud too. and its heavy

Comments about Sabian AA Rock Ride Cymbal:

Over all a great cymbal, and will cut through the mixes. The only thing I would change is a little faster decay, it rings a little much, but that is just me. Good sound recorded. GREAT CYMBAL!!
