Long live AA!

By Rick

from Ft. Lauderdale, FL

The AAX line (large-pattern hammering, small lathed grooves) is very popular for good reason, but if you like the sounds of the 60's and 70's, with something versatile enough to play today's music, this AA crash set (small pattern hammering, regular lathed grooves) is where its at! The medium thin is a great weight for personal playing, and opens up fairly easy, but has great dynamic range for when you need to wail. The 16 and 18 sizes also make this set practical with these most popular sizes.

Quality cymbals

By Massa

from Rochester Hills, MI

These cymbals are definitely worth the price. They are good for several genres of music. They have a loud, bright sound to them with a relatively long decay. Their tones are very nice, and they are pretty durable. They don't gather grime or dirt very easily. I would recommend them to any musician looking to not spend too much yet get quality cymbals

2/3 not bad, but therefore not worth the cost

By Matt McCarthy

from South Bend, Indiana

This would be a great cymbal pack for anybody looking to upgrade to their first set of high-quality cymbals from somewhere closer to the B8 region of Sabian. Those who are simply looking to expand on an already decent cmbal array, however, might want to hand pick their's, rather than buying in a set like this. The 18" has a solid, versatile volume range, and has a decay that sizzles without being too long, but it is way too low pitched for my taste. The AA 18" crash ride is a MUCH better cymbal. The 16" in this set is very solid though. The 16" medium-thin is the standard in crash cymbals, and has a pitch, attack, and volume that make it versatile enough for any genre. Having said that though, it won't stand out in any way from other cymbals. Its versatility means that it lacks "character." The 10" splash is maybe the best of the bunch. It is fairly high pitched, has a quick decay, and a strong attack. It seems sturdy, and is probably thicker than many splashes (therefore higher pitched). Overall, get this pack if you need to upgrade from a starter series, but, otherwise, buy individually. My advice: buy the splash individually, get an 18" aa crash ride, and sho paround for the 16"
