Snagged this during a weekend sale when the 19" , and I'd gladly have paid full price. It replaced my AA Metal-X and WOW what a replacement! Louder, brighter, more piercing, and with a better decay than any chinese cymbal I've found so far. If you're looking for a "gong" type sound, this ain't for you. This is for those who want the ultimate white-noise style, and it's an absolute beast for heavy metal breakdowns and the like. It's the sonic equivalent of an earthquake: shattering, brief, and after it's gone leaves destruction in its wake.
I ended up getting the 19inch and this cymbal pierces through everything. Perfect for sharp accents or even the grooviest of breakdowns. The videos on Youtube cannot do it justice in real life. If you have the opportunity, definitely give this one a go. Always wear ear protection, especially with this cymbal.
This china is surprisingly versatile at medium to low volumes while remaining brutal and uncompromising at higher volumes. It sounds great in the studio and cuts through large crashes in live settings. A word of advice: if you are looking for the choppier, turkish/oriental sound of Zildjian chinas this is not for you. This china is everything that is great about Sabian Chinese cymbals, strong attack with a washier and more musical body than traditional turkish/oriental chinas. This cymbal is also super thin (19"), I cracked mine in 4 months but with Guitar Center's warranty options this is not something that should deter you from laying your hands on this beautiful cymbal.
