I bought teh 19 inch china about a year ago and it sounds just as good now as it did the day i bought it. its super loud and left my ears ringing for hours. it has a super dry sound to it and is ideal for breakdowns( if your in a band). downside is that the sound drones on longer than id like. id like the sound to be fast, but i love that china. i bough it and so should you. dam that was corny, but seriously, its an awsome cymbal and you will be pleased
I recently got rid of my trusted old Wuhan since I hadn't played any metal for a while and didn't have much call for it, but the 19" paragon has convinced me that a china need not be relegated as a limited "effect". The dynamic range and versatility of this cymbal rivals that of a good ride, and in fact it sounds great playing ostenatos. I asked the salesman to play it with a full kit and was surprised to hear it produce a dark, complex, jazzy sizzle with a full frequency response at pianissimo. At fortissimo, the response is instant with plenty of sustain, finally fading out in a smooth, even taper. The stick response is initially soft and buttery, increasing in resilience as you apply greater force. The effect is extremely satisfying, like a well tuned touring suspension that will respond in the curves without jarring your teeth loose at every bump in the road. This cymbal sounds like a china should sound- full, rich, complex, dynamic, and edgy. as a former drum shop manager, I've heard and played a lot of gear. No other china I've heard combines tone, responsiveness, and feel so seamlessly. It's a pleasure to play, and worth every penny
first off this cymbal was the 5th china ive added to my kit and coming in among a 2002 thin, HHX evolution, K Custom, and an A Custom is walking into the lions den for a china. now the 19 inch paragon doesnt sound "bad" i just dont like the sound. its incredibly washy to the point where its obnoxious and its incredibly loud to the point where it drowns out my other cymbals i does however have a neat sound, just not what im looking for
