About Sabian

Founded in 1981 by the late Robert Zildjian, son of Avedis Zildjian III, SABIAN, named from the first initials of Robert's three children—Sally, Bill and Andy—was created to produce cymbals that Robert felt would be more relevant to the newer generation of drummers, with broader choices of tone and design than was then being offered by traditional manufacturers. SABIAN has always taken great pride in their innovations and willingness to experiment with new ideas. Combined with a direct lineage of almost 400 years of cymbal making, this innovative approach quickly built a reputation for SABIAN’s products, beginning a new branch of family history.

From the original AA and HH lines to the latest APX, AAX, Vault and Paragon (the last developed with the help of Neil Peart) cymbals, SABIAN has focused on expanding the tonal range of cymbals while still keeping in touch with tradition. Additionally, effects like the Hoop Crasher and other specialty cymbals have helped broaden the vocabulary of drummers worldwide.
