I didn't pour any research into this one, I just bought what the pro audio salesman recommended and was very happy with the price. When I went to install my mr816x there wasn't enough space in the top of the rear opening so I cut a few corners out to allow proper installation. A little knife work isn't a big deal at all to me, but I had to give this product 4 stars because I cant even refit the back panel on to protect my interface from the elements. The latches of the panel enter the unit vertically and one is supposed to turn them in a horizontal fashion to secure the lid to the unit. Its kinda hard to do this when you have even one piece of equipment installed inside. I thought maybe it was just my equipment but I spotted a used case (the one with the red latches instead of black for the back panels) and it had tape residue exactly where I had planned on taping mine back together with. Don't get me wrong, it does what its designed to do. I just wish it was able to be fully closed without the aid of tape.
If you're going to buy this case, the day you buy it you should order the red plastic latches that are on the back panel. BTW they are black now but they fit. I've broken two of them, fortunately you can order them directly from SKB. $2 plus shipping which is more than the part itself! That aside this case has done well considering the use I get out of it (about 20 gigs a month)
Kudos to the SKB design team...this little gem is light, sturdy, affordable - my amp is happy in her new home. Other manufacturers should take note of the replaceable insert feature. I have to deduct one star though because the back cover dosen't fit tightly.
