Very Good Case Nice Heavy Latches. Fit My PRS SE245 nice and snug
This case is a perfect fit for my epiphone les Paul ultra 3. The latches are absolutely amazing. They are very easy to open and close and feel well made. The inside of the case is very soft and the black color really makes the vintage sunburst paint on my guitar stand out. The handle is positioned so that everything is well balanced when carrying it around. The storage compartment is pretty small, but that's typical for hardshell cases. There is still enough room to easily store basic tools, picks, and extra strings. I would highly recommend this case.
I was looking for something heavier duty than the ESP standard hardshell(wood)cases and found this case fit my ESP Eclipse guitar perfectly, the esp LP clone's dimensions are slightly off the gibson LP, but the guitar is just smaller than the padding so when closed the guitar doesn't move in side the case, best part is its way lighter than my ESP cases so its easier to haul around! Pros: +TSA latches and locks, much improved over regular latches +very sturdy carry handle +relatively lightweight +fits gibson/epi LP, ESP EC models and even a tele-paul +very well padded inside, better than other brands in the price range Cons: -Less storage than standard rectangular cases (my standard hard cases can fit my huge 3" levi strap, music books and tools inside the storage box, this case can barely fit tools, strings, snark, capo, marker for notes... but the trade off is all those pros above)
The case itself is very solid. The 5 latches are beefy leaving no doubt they will keep your guitar secure. I have a Floyd Rose tremolo, so I need to unscrew the bar when I put it in the case. There is a pocket under the neck section with a solid flap. I put my strap and bar in there, it's big enough for several packs of strings if you'd rather, or even a couple pedals. The black felt is good quality. When I first got the case, I brushed the felt in several directions to dislodge any loose fuzz pieces, but there were none. Nice. The improvement I'd like to see is a little slot on the outside where you can put owner information. I'm extremely happy with the case.
I love this case! I have 6 Les Paul guitars. 3 Gibson's with Gibson LP cases, 2 Epiphones with Epiphone & TKL cases, & recently acquired an Edwards Les Paul. This SKB case fits all my Les Pauls perfectly & yes it is a nice tight fit. The handle is very comfortable and the latches are awesome. Possibly my favorite Les Paul case. It looks classy, no weird smell like some other cases I have bought new over the years, and best of all it protects my guitar really well. I would never transport a guitar in a gig bag. This case is worth every penny! I use this case for my Edwards Les Paul and will buy another one if my Gibson cases ever need replaced.
The case itself is awesome. Built like a tank with latches that really latch and are protected by plastic wings, molded to the shape of the guitar, and still with a roomy compartment. Many people complain in their reviews about the snug fit of the guitar but I really like that as it keeps my Les Paul from jiggling around in the case. Also, the bridge section is high enough to keep the headstock from touching the bottom of the case, which is awesome. My only complaint is that when the case is closed the neck section doesn't line up perfectly unless you push/pull it to make it fit right. However, once you've got it right it's a perfect fit. Overall I'm very pleased.
Glad I took the time to look at similar cases before I made my final decision and purchased this one, My Son has had his SG in an SKB-SG deluxe case for many years and I loved everything about the case the way the guitar fit and how well the case looked, opened, closed, latched and protected his guitar, But thought I could get a similar one for lots less money and it would be just as good; So I looked and compared several but none of them came close in quality and the prices were not much less, So It only reassured me in my first choice which was the SKB-56 Deluxe Guitar Case, I plan on purchasing the Fender SKB Molded Standard Dreadnought Case for my Fender DG-200SCE on my next trip to G.C., And look forward to many years of service from a case that proved its self to me before I even purchased it.
I've have this case for about three months now and love it! It fits my LP like a glove. There is plenty of extra storage inside for a pedal, tuner, strap...etc. Very lightweight, but very rugged! The only issue I have had is that the handle broke after about two months. I have to say that SKB has customer service second to none! All I did was call and had a new handle on the way in less than five minutes. These folks stand behind their product!
Really solid well built case, i've always loved SKB's and there just getting better.
I bought one of these a couple years ago for my son's Epiphone Les Paul. Some how,& I don't believe I've gotten the real story, he broke the shell of the case in several places. I sent it back to SKB & they replaced it with one of these with the new style latches,no questions asked. All I had to pay was shipping to their facility. So in short, great, sturdy case from a company that stands behind their warranty.
