  • Quality has hit the bottom

    I have been an avid fan of SKB rack and gig cases for years. This last purchase of a 6 space rack case has totally turned me off to their products. I purchased it to house 8 wireless mics and a Furman power unit. To start, the molded portion of the case was terrible cosmetically; gouges and voids in the molding itself looked horrible and there was excess plastic material everywhere. Secondly, both the front and back lid hardware was lightweight and has been cheapened. Finally, again on the lids; the plastic was so warped that the flimsy latches could not even keep the lids on. Every time I picked up the case, they fell off. I ended up using the case in a permanent installation (without the lids). Although it looks horrible, it is the only thing it is good for. I went right out and replaced it with a TKL (which I have never owned) and it is great. I also have a few Gator cases I have purchased in the past and they are well made. Hope these two brands don't go the way of SKB.

    SKB is the standard in cases for guitars and rack equipment, and that is why I purchased it. The very first day I used it for a show, while unloading the van, my SKB Rack case fell out and hit the corner of the curb. I almost lost my mind, but when I got everything set up on stage and played, no problems at all.. Thank you Guitar Center and SKB for the best equipment in the world!!

    Bought this to rack a Digi 003+. Tolerance on the width of the rack rails is poor, meaning that if I had installed the fasteners, I would have chewed up the faceplate of the Digi unit. 2nd, with the Digi unit in place, the cover would not fit, because of the lip. I have another SKB rack with the aluminum surround and clip ons that works fine for the raised faceplate digi units...so I can only conclude that SKB ignored various rack specs. In addition, the retainer clips were riveted off kilter...this passed inspection?? Like my SKB Xrack; but cannot recommend the Roto Rack.
