Comments about SEYDEL Blues Silver 1847 Harmonica:

Bought as a gift, the recipient likes the tone and ease of playing. Time will tell if the claimed longevity of the stainless reeds will justify the higher cost.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Silver 1847 Harmonica:

This is my 1st Blues Silver. Really like this harmonica. I play mostly blues and accompaniment in church and it responds quite nicely. Only time will tell on the durability/longevity. I also have one Seydel Blues Session Steel, which is better at playing melodies, straight harp, and the higher registers, but doesn't get the growl I like on the low end, like the Silver does pretty well.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Silver 1847 Harmonica:

Heard someone playing one, and I wanted one, too. Nice dry sound, little breath required for big sound. More than double the price of my previous Honer Golden Melody, but worth it, I think.

Switching from Special 20s to Seydel

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Silver 1847 Harmonica:

I've been playing Special 20s for over 20 years and never had a complaint. However out of the last 3 I purchased, two were unplayable out of the box and the third failed inside of two weeks. I'm told that Hohner now produces them in China on a fully automated assembly line. The Blues Silver plays like the special 20s used to. Never used stainless steel reeds before. There is a slight difference in tone but you would be hard pressed to find someone in the audience who would notice. I am switching to Seydel.
