Nice, but not my cup of tea

By Lisa

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

Now I have been playing for over 40 years and ran them all. SO...on the advice of a friend he said to try these. I rigged them up on my Jazz Bass and had them on for about a week playing them and tweeking them in. An EXCELLENT string to be sure, but I decided to go BACK to my Swing 66LD's because that is where my tone has been for years. They felt great, NO issues with them. They did not have the Red silk ends to wrap around the machine heads. You can definitely get funky with them, they sound fantastic, but like I said, not my cup of tea. I still give it a 5 star rating because the strings were as advertised.

Nothing sounds like Rotosound!

By BUD IZEN

from Eugene, Oregon

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

Ever since finding out (a REALLY long time ago) what strings John Entwhistle used, for the longest time I used nothing else on my basses. When I started playing fretless, my first fretless bass, a MIM Fender Jazz, I treated the neck with epoxy so that the Rotosounds would not put grooves in the wood. I am no jazz player, but that "Jaco sound" cannot be beat. Since then, I have experimented with other strings on my three other fretless basses, but the fretted ones use Rotosound. Recently I got the deal of a lifetime on a brand new 'Ray by Sterling and ordered a set of Rotos at the same time. Not that it was my intention, but the sound is highly reminiscent of the bass sound on the early Aerosmith records. These may not have the most life of any string you might buy, but nothing else sounds like these. If you like them, you love them. As the old ad goes, "Pull your group together, with Rotosound strings!"

Best strings I've ever played

By Eric Hockaday

from Pa.

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

I've used all the fancy names the EXP's bt D'Adario, DR's, Dean Markley's, and the like but nothing has better tone. These things have an amazing warm tone where it counts, but at the same time they have the highs for slap bass and funk. The nickle gives these things a smooth feel and gives the a longer lasting tone than all the stainless steel strings I've ever played. I really couldn't imagine playing any other strings.

Rotosound is great

By whitesg23

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

These strings are very good. It all depends on what you like but if you like bright strings that feel good and sound good get the swing 66. I will warn you that they do loose there brightness after about 3 or 4 months, but not in the way you think. There is deff. less of a ring to them but they still play like you just took them out of the box. Not like alot of other strings the go dead and just get gross and sound horrible, the swing 66's still feel really good and still sound good, but they do loose there luster after 3 months. Over all get these strings
