World famous for their incredible sound and expressive performance, Roland's V-Drum family gets an exciting new addition with the V-Drums Lite or HD-3 - a new-generation drum kit that expands the definition of drumming. This compact kit is powerful and expressive enough for pros yet fun and friendly enough for beginners, gamers, and home-entertainment enthusiasts. Rich with components and benefits, this kit offers:
Small Price, Big Performance
Its footprint is small, but the HD-3 sounds and performs impressively large. Based on Roland's legendary V-Drums, this little kit is a dream for beginners, casual players, gamers, as well as for parents, since the volume level can be completely controlled via volume knob and/or headphones.
Newly Improved Pads
Play the comfortable new cloth-head pads that feel and respond like acoustic toms. The beater-less kick pad has also been enhanced for comfort and improved playing response.
The HD-3 is equipped with a mix input jack for connecting CD-players, MP3 players, and other audio sources. Jam along with your favorite songs, and control the blend of music and your live drumming through headphones or an amplifier*.
*Optional PM-03 Personal Drum Monitor
Using MIDI you can easily connect the HD-3 to other devices to expand your sound possibilities or connect to a computer and improve your drumming skills with V-Drums Friend Jam or Roland's DT-1 Drum Tutor software.* For gamers, the HD-3 is an ideal addition to your favorite gaming system for hours of fun.
*DT-1 and required MIDI interface (UM-ONE) sold separately. V-Drums Friend Jam available as a download at no charge.
The HD-3 is a great way to enhance musical expression and enjoyment in your home. Used along with other popular instruments such as Roland's digital pianos, the HD-3 will serve as the nucleus for family fun and musical enrichment.

I have owned this set and played almost daily for 2 months. It has performed reliably with no issues whatsoever even with heavy handed playing. This is a fantastic set that really exceeded my expectations. I was planning to send midi out into another module to get better sounding drums (which you can do) but the onboard presets are really great. Super feel and response on all of the pads. 2 zones work perfectly. Another reviewer incorrectly stated that you can't adjust volume levels for individual pads and cymbals. This is not true. You can easily adjust the velocity settings to get the drum mix you want. Also, although this set has been marketed as a "beginner" unit, it is vastly underrated as a piece of professional studio equipment. I have this set up in the corner of my studio and with midi, the possibilities are truly endless. One concern I had before receiving the v-drums based on other internet reviews was the feel of the HH and bass pedals. As soon as I tried them I knew i had nothing to worry about. They are super quiet but also very solid feeling and responsive. Overall, I would recommend this set for beginners as well as serious musicians with a small studio space to work with. It's also portable enough to grab and go to a gig or practice with which is pretty amazing.
Got my Roland V-Drums Lite last week. If you are looking for something with a small footprint that is light, portable, and that sounds pretty good, this is kit for you. Pros: Compact, very easy to setup, good build quality. Ideal for beginners. Good factory sound banks. Cons: Sounds on each bank are fixed with zero customization - e.g: you can't change the pitch/volume of each sound. I wish the monitor was included for this price(earlier the item description seemed to indicate the monitor was included with the kit, but this is now fixed).
