The day before I ran into GC to buy one of these, my MBP Retina slid off a music stand and landed right on its side. That was the only time I ever saw everyone in my band stop playing at the exact same time. Kudos to Apple; even though it was a thinly-carpeted floor, there wasn't a scratch, dent, or even a busted pixel. But I am not taking that chance again. The hardware is solid and trustworthy. If you knock over your laptop on this thing, the accident was meant to be and you didn't deserve to own a laptop anyway. If you are reading this, you know there is limited adjustability on the table, but I don't see it as an issue. There's limited room for a mouse. If you are heavy on mouse use, you might as well get a folding table. Finally, the clamps are a little too high up for an ultra thin laptop, but practically speaking I don't see any risk. The foam on the clamps holds mine quite tight and, properly adjusted, it won't fall out. One of these days, though, Roland should redesign the clamps to fit thinner computers and, if I was to daydream, include a quick release mechanism. But it gets 5 stars because it does exactly what it needs to do.

Extremely sturdy and stable even at its highest position. The footprint is big enough to prevent it from accidentally falling over, but not so big that it takes up too much room. The padded hooks keep your laptop securely in place and are adjustable to fit any width laptop. The only shortcoming is that the top does not fold down flat for storage unless you remove one of the bolts. Either way, compared to every other laptop stand and tripod style music stand I've seen, this thing is built the best. In my opinion way over priced though.

Just What I Have Been Needing

By B

from Texas

Comments about Roland SS-PC1 Adjustable Laptop Stand:

Does just what it is intended. Its a good stand that holds up my 17 inch MacBook Pro. I feel its well constructed for its use as a stand and is protective since it is a sturdy tripod with arms holding the laptop in place. I have not had luck with chairs, folding tables, the ground, or a good looking roadie attempting to holding the goods. This stand works great. I recommend it. Nicely adjustable. Im 6 foot and some change and I can use it standing with a guitar on. Which I find useful. ...and it looks cool on stage. I feel I am defiantly getting my moneys worth from this product. ...Only thing negative, is that the tray for the mouse is too small, and has raised boxed in edges. I have a regular mouse and it does not fit. I did rig a solid mouse pad on top, but thats not the point. Other then that good product.

Comments about Roland SS-PC1 Adjustable Laptop Stand:

I use for running my Native Instruments software off of the laptop . The only thing I wish it did was tilt more. But that is a good safety feature, as there is no chance of the laptop sliding off.

Surprisingly Good

By THOEN MOEN

from Twin Cities, MN

Comments about Roland SS-PC1 Adjustable Laptop Stand:

I'm a DJ, and most laptop stands designed for DJ's rest on the tabletop. For example: Stanton Uberstand, Odyssey L-Stand, CRANE Stand, etc. And while those stands are great stands, I found myself in the unique position where my dual turntables and mixer takes up more room on my 5' DJ table than I had realized. And since I found this stand to be cheaper than all but the L-Stand, which I personally didn't like anyway, I figured I'd give the stand a try. And I was truly surprised. It's sturdy, it's stable, it's durable, and aside from the minor problem where to fold it flat you have to remove a bolt, which isn't a major problem anyway since it doesn't require tools, it's a great stand. It clamps down to just about any laptop model, and I'm sure any thickness as well. It's very well built, using all-metal construction, and by no means does it feel cheap in any way. Everything is tight and doesn't creak or anything like that in any way. It's also lightweight and it's all-black look lends itself well to DJ booths as it doesn't stand out. Overall, I was expecting less from this stand, and it blew me away. Well done, Roland, well done.

Comments about Roland SS-PC1 Adjustable Laptop Stand:

thats cool, it looks like what they'd use in hospitals but either way is cool. It would be even cooler if it had a tray under the main computer platform for extra stuff.
