This is a greatest addition to my TD-20's. I expanded my TD-20's farbeyond the 4 expansion slots they give you, so I needed another controller that would let me add more triggers. I use the SPD 20 for my special effects and things like gong sounds and timbales. It also has 4 additional trigger inputs and has allowed me to add additional toms and cymbals to my kit beyond the original 4 expansion slots on my TD-20's. Great buy and I would purchase it again. Roland is the leader in Electronic drums and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
I just bought this unit to replace my original Roland octapad that I've had for 20+ yrs. It sound awesome, and the pads feel great. My only beaf, is that the midi out doesn't double as a midi thru like the original octapad did. I had to reconfigure my midi setup and buy a midi merger to incorporate it in my studio. other than that, I would recomend it to any drummer looking to expand their voices on the drum set, whether acoustic, or electronic.
