Comments about Roland RD-64 Digital Piano:
I absolutely love this keyboard. As many have said, it's a "meat and potatoes" board, which is what I have been looking for. Simple, to-the-point, killer sounds, easy-as-can-be user interface (no menus), portable and compact. I think all the sounds are fantastic, piano, Rhodes, Wurli, Clav, Hammond... all really good. The Clav really shines when you put it through a Wah and ovberdrive pedal, although Clav variation 2 with both onboard effects on (autowah and overdrive) is actually pretty nice even without stompboxes. Yeah, there are no drawbars, but the available organ tones are really all I need. Variation 1 is a jazzy, Jimmy Smith, 888000000 draw registration with percussion, Variation 2 is a nice rock organ with a little OD, 3 is a full draw gospely type of vibe. The acoustic and electric pianos are amazing. You can't adjust the reverb, it's just on or off, but I think they dialed in just the right amount. I really like the action. It took just a little getting used to for the organ tones of course, but after a few days I was able to adjust sufficiently. And it's perfect for the rest of the sounds. Some have said they don't like it's looks, but I do. Just simple, black, not flashy. I don't like all the red and silver boards that seem to be popular these days. But maybe that's just me. Anyway, as I said, I'm very happy with the RD64. I've pracitced and gigged with it, and it has been a lot of fun. Simple set up, no messing around with menus, and great tones. 5 stars.
