With a pair of premium VS Preamps onboard, plus superb 24-bit/192 kHz audio quality, ultra-low latency performance, and convenient USB bus power, QUAD-CAPTURE sets a new standard for portable USB 2.0 audio interfaces. Its compact, durable design and pristine sound makes it the perfect foundation for portable, multichannel computer-based productions on the go. With quality and performance that far exceeds its size and price, QUAD-CAPTURE stands at the head of its class.
QUAD-CAPTURE boasts two premium-grade, digitally controlled mic preamps (VS Preamps) made from the same high-grade components as the preamps found in Roland's V-Studio 700 and M-400 digital mixer. Two XLR/TRS combo inputs are provided for the preamps, plus independent phantom power, low-cut filter, phase invert, and digital compression for each channel. The VS preamps can be controlled easily and intuitively with the included graphical Control Panel software (Mac/PC).
Never before has it been faster or easier to set perfect input levels-simply activate the AUTO-SENS feature with the push of a button, play your connected instruments, and QUAD-CAPTURE automatically sets the ideal recording level for each input. Whether you're a beginner or a professional, AUTO-SENS is great for quick, fail-safe recordings, saving you setup time and letting you focus on where it starts... the performance.
QUAD-CAPTURE offers incredible stability and industry-leading low-latency USB performance via Roland's proprietary VS Streaming technology. All current Mac and PC DAW platforms are supported through ASIO 2.0/WDM (Windows) and Core Audio (Mac).
Low-Noise Power Supply
One of QUAD-CAPTURE's key "behind-the-scenes" features is its low-noise, wide-ranging power supply. Designed to deliver a clean, balanced input and output, it provides a reliable foundation for any professional audio application or environment. When driven by the USB bus power supply, QUAD-CAPTURE's power is regenerated, providing the analog circuitry ideal voltage for the very best sound quality and efficiency in mobile environments.
Aluminum Build, DI Functionality
QUAD-CAPTURE is small, strong, and housed in a road-tough aluminum body, so you can transport it anywhere with the confidence that its premium internal components are securely protected. For live-concert environments, QUAD-CAPTURE also provides Direct-Box (DI) functionality, essential for noise-free live stage use.

After using this to record myself at a live gig and in my studio, I know I made a smart choice. My recordings are high in dynamics and sound quality! The AUTO-SENS (recording input-level optimizer)is quick and reliable. I choose to buy this unit because it has a built-in compressor(fully adjustable)for each input. A compressor is necessary for making recordings, especially live ones, to eliminate distortion from clipping. After looking at the specs of various USB audio interfaces of semi-pro quality, my list was short. This unit also has SPDIF and MIDI in & out. SONAR X1 LE DAW-software is also included (a $100 value)- as a longtime user of Cakewalk products, I'll be upgrading my Windows XP laptop! GREAT Value for the price!!
Had for about 2 months. Works as advertised on Win 7/Sonar X2 rig. I mainly use to record live guitar with my midi/virtual instrument mixes. In case you can't tell from the photos, the LED markers around the sensitivity knobs light up for your level meters...pretty cool looking in action :) Like all of these external boxes, make sure you disable your motherboard's internal sound processors in Control Panel on Windows. Very pleased with purchase.
I've had this quad-capture for close to a year. The feature that really sold me was the auto sens. This feature alone is priceless when recording vocals guitars and anything else that can be recorded. You need to take the time to setup the software which is really where part of the bread and butter is. The compression is a great added feature. The midi implementation comes in handy with less strain on the pc . My only complaints are wish using the headphones jack would mute the main output or there was some way to mute the main outs. Monitoring the mix between what you are recording and the rest ofbthe music could be more intuitive. My last complaint, I wish I would have gotten the octa-capture. I use this on my main project pc to facilitate all the audio ins and outs for recording and as the midi interface for my bcf2000. I use it live to play keyboards with a keyboard controller and tablet pc outputting to my p.a. setup. Overall it is the center piece of all my music production and performance.
I'm really happy with this interface. I've had it for about 2 weeks now. I was using a Tascam US 122L but it wouldn't work with my new Windows 7 machine. The Quad Capture was really easy to set up. I'm using it on Windows 7 x64 (home edition) with Sonar X1. It sounds great, and I've had no problems with latency. I'm able to record in stereo from my tape deck or my computer's headphone jack. I've used the phantom power with a condenser mic for my sax and it works great. This interface has everything I need and has been working great so far. I'd highly recommend it.
