Have owned this for 6 months. I play it almost every day. I have run all kinds of things through it: Fender Strats, Tele copies, Ovation 6 and 12 string acoustic-electrics, a classical with a piezo pickup, a Martin backpacker with a piezo pickup, an iPod, an SM58 vocal mike...ALL of them sounded good clean. I have played blues harmonica and electric guitar simultaneously through it (2 channels w/ separate Volume controls!) and it sounds great in a living room. I've miked it onstage in a small club venue, and it sounds BIG. I've played my Ovation and an SM58 through it simultaneously (father-daughter duet for a school talent show) in a gym with 1000 people, cranked full by itself, NOT through the PA, and it sounded HUGE. I can get dirty ZZtop, AC / DC tones, approximate a Santana Mesa / Boogie tube sag, and even some Metallica-like tones, at low volumes. The Delay is a tad squishy, the Reverb almost gets you to surf, but not quite, the CHorus is just OK (sounds more flanged)and the only things it lacks is a line out and an on-board tuner (which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5). My friends want one. You can do a lot with just your guitar and this little amp. It doesn't like my Digitech GNX1 multi-effects box, but I honestly don't need it with this li'l sucker. Buy one. It ain't tubular, but it's lightweight, you can mike it for gigs, you can run it (almost) forever on batteries or plugged in, and it's cheap.

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought the Roland Mobile Cube as an anniversary present for my husband. He's really impressed with the versatility and power of this little amp! It's perfect for practices and small venues (coffee houses, etc.), and will also work well as a monitor for larger gigs. The sound is clear and there's plenty of volume.

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Great sound and more power than expected from an amp that runs on 6 AA batteries. Only complaint is that they didn't tell me in the store that a power cable is a seperate accessory. If I had known, I at least could've ordered one right away.

EWIs, Electric Violins, Accoustic Guitars and Mics are WELCOME to THIS party!

          from New York City

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Ok, lemme tell you something: I like the idea of having a stereo amplifier with a sound that's much larger than its size; an amplifier that has accoustic, electric, overdrive and distortion built in (in a way that actually sounds good for versatile players on all levels, given its portability); an amplifier that runs off of a handful of AA cells; an amplifier that has convincing reverb and chorus settings (sweet for my Ned Steinberger e-Fiddle); and an amplifier that I can also hook up my MP3 player or laptop or tablet to? This beast + iPad + GarageBand + any MIDI controller = One Man Concert! No risk purchase! BUY NOW!

          Best portable amp ever!

          By STEW REPLOGLE

          from Boston, MA

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought a few portable PAs (all under $500) prior to this one to use primarily for street performances. Needed something small/portable that didn't require ac power or a huge battery. When I opened this up, I thought "there's no way this little thing is going to give me what I need". Wrong! The sound is better than my Gigman and my Alesis portable PA and costs less than either! All the reviews I read here confirmed that but still I was skeptical until I used it. I've been a prof singer for over 30 years and this is quite simply the best piece of equipment I have ever bought in terms of value for the money. There is only one major oversight that I'd correct if I could and that is that there's no volume control to adjust any sort of MP3/IPOD that you might plug into it. You have to go to the MP3 player to do that (unless I'm mistaken). Otherwise, it's a gem. One minor drawback is that no ac adapter came with the unit, even though they do enclose the carry strap and 6 AA batteries. If I had known, I would have added that adapter to my order. Aside from those 2 points, I have nothing but great things to say about this wonderful little amp!

Exactly what I was looking for

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

The sound, connections, and portability are reasons I got got this, and it does not disappoint. Living in Brooklyn, this is perfect to commute with as it easily fits in my backpack. It can fill out a living room quite nicely. I am only using it for practice. My only complaint is the lack of guitar tuner. Also, I have not tried batteries yet, just been using an adapter. I have not tried the other Roland cubes, but definitely recommend giving this one a try.

          WOW!!!

          By David R. Brown

          from El Paso, Texas

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Oh, what fun it is to use! Yes, I just received this cool little, true-stereo (or mono, as needed) amp as a 2010 Christmas gift, thanks to my wonderful wife and Guitar Center. For the purposes for which it's designed, i.e., practices and small-venue performances, the Roland Mobile Cube is the perfect workhorse. Originally, I meant to rate it with only 4 stars out of the possible 5 (not bad), but I realized that I was expecting more than that for which it was intended. Besides, making only minor adjustments helped to allay my mild concerns. For its low price, small size, excellent portability (not too heavy), and low-wattage output rating, the M.C. offers remarkably true sound (and plenty of it)! First off, let me say that I never before have heard any amp which reproduces the clarity of my acoustic-electric guitar. Each of the three settings (clean, overdrive, and distortion) is clear and true, and trust me, the music carries nicely. I have yet to try my electric guitar, but I expect similar results. At first, I was mildly disappointed in the digital piano amplification. It tended to clip on the louder notes. However, after I played with the tone control a mite, the distortion was gone. Using the M.C. for piano certainly is worthwhile, especially when one considers the very useful, built-in special effects, including reverb, delay, "normal" and "fat" piano settings, direct microphone input (usable in any mode), and "center cancel" option (which removes solo voices or instruments from recorded music--good for karaoke and/or production of accomaniment discs). The M.C. does seem just slightly weak on piano projection at times, and being all in one unit, it doesn't have great stereo separation, but there's no doubt that it does the job sufficiently well. For bigger, broader sound, it could be preamp-outed (through the headphone jack) to a larger, stonger amp, either stereo or mono. You still will have access to all the neat, special features of the M.C. (NOTE: In case of any humming problem, it does include a ground-wire hookup on the side of the unit.) For being a portable amp, the Mobile Cube reproduces prerecorded music very faithfully. Hooked up to a CD, MP3, or any other recorded music source, you are likely to be impressed. There is, of course, the sing-along feature as well, either with or without the "center cancel" feature in use. So, there you have it: The Roland Mobile Cube is a multipurpose amp which seems to outdo itself. Based upon its sound, portability, versatility, and affordability, I would recommend this unit to anyone. What are you waiting for? Go get it!

          Little Powerhouse!

          By bradford richardson

          from Denver, CO

Comments about Roland Mobile Cube Battery-Powered Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

For what it is designed to do this amp is the best investment I have ever made in gear! I use it all the time...electric guitar for practice sessions, keyboard, ipod, this little thing will run anything! I even use it to do weddings with my classical guitar...the reverb is great. The only negatives are the the power switch in on the side of the unit, so it can be turned on by accident if it's in a gig bag...I take one of the batteries out when I move it, so it won't turn on. The batteries last a LONG time...it could also use a ext. speaker out, because the 4" speakers have a tough time with the acoustic guitars at higher volumes, but still, this little amp is AMAZING!

It sounded good in the store so I bought it for traveling. I used it for a week while on a trip and was really amazed. Then after we played for a while in the studio i said you guys got to hear this. I plugged our lead guitar into it and we jammed for a while then opened my eyes and saw the cube and had forgotten we switched to it. Its that good.
