After extensively demoing the Micro Cube's big brothers, the Cube 30X and Cube 60, I just had to have an amp from this fine line of products. Since I desired a practice amp that could run either on batteries or AC power, I chose the Roland Micro Cube. Inside of this small and extremely rugged 10x9x7" box lives a HUGE sound! Although this amp is rated at 2 watts, its 5" speaker sounds much louder! The COSM amp models are phenomenal; giving great representations of the Boss AC-3, Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus, Fender Twin Reverb, Vox AC-30TB, Marshall JMP1987, MESA/Boogie Rectifier, and a microphone PA amp. Gain, volume, and tone are adjustable on those for dialing in the right sound. The built-in DSP effects are decent, my favorites being the chorus and reverb. Two effects may be chosen simultaneously, if desired: chorus, flanger, phaser, or tremolo on one knob; plus delay or reverb on an independent knob. For a fuller sound, use the 1/4" record out jack to turn off the built-in speaker and send the signal to your headphones, computer, or larger guitar amp. I've done this with a 450-watt SWR combo amp with extension cab, and it blew me away! My only complaint is that the Micro Cube's output signal is mono only, giving less depth to the DSP effects. Rounding out the highlights, the Roland Micro Cube has a convenient tuning fork in case you misplace your normal tuner. Auxiliary inputs in the form of a 1/4" jack and a 1/8" miniplug jack are present, making it easy to jam along with a CD/mp3 player or another instrument. A regular guitar strap, allowing the user to wear it and wander about with their guitar while jamming, can also replace the included carrying handle. The Roland Micro Cube is an excellent product, giving lots of bang for the buck. I highly recommend this product, as it's one of the best purchases I've ever made!

i have had this amp for about three months now, and have used it at least two hours a day. first of all, all modeling amps will do a poor job at many sounds. analog *will* sound better. bearing that in mind, this does a decent job with some aspects of your sound. A: it does rather well in the mid register. it sounds fairly warm and satisfying in the middle frequencies. B:it does okay in the high frequencies. if you try to go too high with out adjusting the tone and amp model, you will get a nasty shriek. C:i does POOR with the low frequencies. try playing open E and A, and you will get a horrible shuddering sound that is obviously the amp failing at its job. you will NOT be satisfied with the lows, period. the first FX knob is okay. it does flanger, phaser, tremelo, and chorus, and only chorus is anything you could stand for more then a minute. the second FX knob has reverb and delay on it. they are pretty good, actually. the clean amp models are pretty good, "acoustic" is actually a very good modeling of a acoustic guitar. the dirty amp models are nothing to sneeze at either, with "classic" (marshall stack) or "rectifier" (Mesa boogie triprec) being both nice sounding, although they do NOT have the dynamics of the real things- but what did you expect? it can run for about a day off six AA batteries, which is no less then magical. this is especially nice, because it has a "mic" channel that does a good job, and you can line in a CD player in lieu of a boombox (it sounds NICE) you don't need the tuning fork. and finally, it is indestructable; as in, you could beat a bear to death with it, and then play a song about your victory with it. that kind of tough. all in all, i DO recommend this amp for beginners; it will not be money wasted. perhaps installing a superior speaker would fix the bass problems.

Excellent Christmas Gift

By Mark Reinking

from Rocklin, CA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

I was looking for something to have in my home office with decent effects & volume and not too expensive. I first considered a mini amp/stack, but in researching them, they had too little to offer for what I wanted for the cost. Doubling the price gave me what I was looking for. I checked reviews & played the VOX Mini 3, Mini Mustang & the Micro Cube. I then narrowed it down to the Mini Mustang & the Micro cube and ultimately chose the Micro Cube. To me, the sound effects were slightly better and the durability tests I viewed edged out the Mini Mustang. I purchased it in red and highly recommend it. Exceeding amount of volume, excellent effects and battery operation make this one little bad amp for a 70s/80s rocker pushing 50.

Flawless little amp!

By Shane Grove

from Danielsville, PA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

Everything about this amp is great. It's portable, 7 different settings, and many effects this amp is just the full package. Mine lasted about 3 1/2 years and it took a bad beating so if you take very good care of it, it will last for well over 4 years. I would greatly recommend this amp to any guitarist! Also, not to mention it's Mic setting for singers who buy this amp. So this is definitely a must buy!

Roland Cube Amp

By Ace Ace

from Seattle WA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

I Think a lot of people are missing the point of this amp. Its made to jam in your bed or on the sofa. Or if you are buying a guitar you can bring it along and use the batteries to check out another guitar. Also great on tour bus. I give it five stars for what it was meant to do. Its not made to blow your head off with a wall of sound, its made to play at about 5 and get a great overdrive and work your riffs. I say buy it, it rocks for this propose. Red looks so cool..

I Bought this twice.....

By James Steele jr.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

Well I bought one of these quite a while back, and I ended up geting rid of it. Well, I bought one used and am wondering why I ever got rid of the first one I owned. This is the best portable amp I've played. I've been getting great "low-volume" Tones out of this amp. I'll be keeping this one.

Good Until Cranking

By Michael Wong

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

This is one of the best small combo amps because the tone is really good despite being small. But after the volume is up more than 3/4s, the tone gets fuzzy.

a real preformer

By ROBERT BOWEN

from Bob Bowen

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

I've had my cube for over a year now. It is amazing how versatile and how much volume is packed in the little box. My only beef with it is that it hums loud enough to annoy me at times. I do recommend it because of all the effects combinations possible, not to mention the batteries last for quite a while if you don't have a 110 outlet or forget your adapter.

Great for beginners

By Mark Tully

from Bethel, CT

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

I bought this amp a few years ago when I first started playing guitar, and although it hasn't failed me yet as a practice/recording amp,I do not recommend this for performing at places other than small gatherings. It is useful and convenient, but there are plenty of amps that can get much more volume and power than this one. If you're a beginner, this amp is perfect, but if you want a high-quality amp, this one will most likely not meet your needs/standards.

A great little amp!

By J. Hergert

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

I recently purchased a Roland Micro Cube amp just to use during weekend getaways but I've discovered a tone monster. Just dial up the Brit Combo with a little gain and reverb, plug in a Tele tuned to open G and you have Keef tones. Talk about a blast. I tried a Fender Mustang Mini and the Micro Cube blew it away. If you want a great practice amp with lots of features for home or on the road, this is the one.

Great little Amp !!!!!!!!!

By Richard Schoepfer

from Florida

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

Wow . . . what a great little amp. Easy to use and sounds great . . esp the classic and R-fer channels. I expected it to have decient clean and crunch tones, and it does, but it still amazes me that this little thing can throw out Van Halen like tones. The on board effects are pretty good as well. I purchased the amp for giving guitar lessons. I wanted something very light, compact and portable. This amp weighs only about 5 lbs. I am extremely happy with this little guy. The bottom line is you really can't beat what you get here for the price. It's actually pretty loud for it's size but I also haven't thrown it on a back line to try and hear it over a drummer.

Love this!!

By Rand

from Alameda,Ca

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp:

This little gadget is so handy. It gives me an excuse to take my guitar on road trips. Great dual rectifier modeling and some nice chorus and delay combo's that you can dial up. Cleans up very well also and it's pretty punchy for it's size. I put batteries in it and stuff it in my backpack for a little outdoor use once in a while. Had mine for a year now and have had no issues. Sold my other practice amps...this one is just way more useful. Cheers
