Overview

Meet the MICRO CUBE RX Bass Combo Amp; it's small, loud, proud, and in true stereo! This amp overachieves with serious bombast in a small body. You won't believe how much this little combo can deliver through its stereo power amps and 4 newly developed custom speakers.

A New Prescription for Bass Tone, Power and Portability

This compact amp is equipped with high-quality, powerful sound. The cutting-edge speakers used in the MICRO CUBE BASS RX are custom designed and built specially for these amps. With two specially made power amps and four speakers contained in each, the RX amp produces an immersive, stereo sound that must be heard to be believed. The true stereo engine also allows bass tones that defy the size of the cabinet. This amp can run on battery or AC power (AC adaptor included).

COSM Amps & Digital Effects

Guitarists and bassists have come to rely on Roland and BOSS for the best effects in the world. The MICRO CUBE BASS RX benefit from this world-leading technology, offering eight built-in COSM amps, six digital effects, 3-band EQ, and a chromatic tuner. Its onboard stereo effects benefit from Roland's decades of industry-leading R&D. Experience the amazing spatial depth and lush sound of the stereo Chorus and Reverb.

Work on your Timing with the Rhythm Guide

The metronome is a music-student's best friend, but that numbing "clank, clank, clank" can get irksome. That's where the Rhythm Guide comes in handy. It's like having a drummer inside your amp. Choose from an assortment of groovin' patterns to practice with. Improve your timing while having a more enjoyable musical experience, or just have fun jamming along to the beats.

Outputs/Inputs
The Phones/Recording output serves two purposes: Plug in a set of headphones and enjoy private practice with lush, stereo sound, or plug directly into a stereo mixer or recording device for accurate signal transfer directly from this amp. It has a line input that lets you plug in a guitar, bass, or microphone. In addition, the stereo AUX input accepts input from an iPod, a CD player, or musical instrument so you can blend its signal with your own.

This is cool little practice amp that comes with lots of extras, like some basic effects, different tone emulations (e.g. Ampeg SVT), a tuner, metronome, and basic percussion patterns. All of this makes for lots of dials to turn, and it's just fun to play around with. The sound and volume isn't bad for a practice amp this small. You know you're playing a bass, but let's face it, you're not going to rattle the rafters with this. But the compact size let's you move it easily...it can even run on batteries. I'd recommend this for a beginner with a little more to spend. My view is having fun is more important at this stage than having the best sounding equipment. For others, this might be a good choice for ultra portability -- for instance, when I travel, I'll often take along a bass and a DB-90 metronome to practice. The Roland is small enough to maybe lug along. Only downsides: a bit pricey (although you get a lot of toys); the tuner is really basic.

For a little box with little speakers this amp puts out an amazing amount of sound and the tone shaping controls actually do something. This was purchased primarily for portability and the battery operation so that the bass can go where only acoustic basses usually go. That's cool. It's light, small, uses a fair number of batteries and does what it says, so far. It doesn't have has much power on batteries, but it goes pretty well. I've not had it long enough to judge longevity. Customer service was responsive to questions. They even allowed that the unit could run on rechargeable or lithium batteries rather than the hard and fast rule of alkalines only, though Roland has yet to officially rule on that. The biggest disappointment here is no Line Out jack. This would be a nice little bass monitor on stage IF it could patch through to a P.A. board. How difficult is it to put in a Line Out connection? Or a switch to allow signal to go to either or both the speaker and headphones, rather than cutting off the speaker when plugged in to the headphone jack? Another disappointment. Why not a place to carry the power cord and converter? A pocket. A shelf. A trap door. Some clips. Something. Right now the cord is loose in an accessory bag or pouch away from the amp, just begging to be lost. I don't care about the special effects. I play with acoustic bands so I'm a 1-4-5 bassist. Even the drum machine is generally superfluous, though it's cute. I want a Line Out. So it will be used in the field and where portability is paramount. Otherwise, I guess another amp with the needed patch is in order.

I found a gem!

By Joab

from Louisville, KY

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

This is the best amp for practice. If you live in an apartment this is for you. It is very loud for its size. The bass tone is very good and my bass guitar shines on this amp. It is loud enough yet its not making your ceiling vibrate that will cause your neighbor neighbor to irritate at you. The guitar tuner is very good and accurate. The built in drum machine is also good and handy. I wish a knob is choosen for the tempo instead of a button. The EFX are nice to have. The delay/reverb is a bonus. It is light and very compact and yet looks very good. I would recomend this to a friend. All in all I am very happy Roland made this product as if it is tailored made just for me.

Lots of Features with Portability

By MarcKirk

from South Bay, CA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

This is a cool little amp if you need portability or something for quiet practicing. It has lots of features that work pretty well. I especially like the Reverb and Chorus. The tuner and drum machine are limited, but useful. For a battery powered bass amp, it has good tone, but the trade off is that bass response rolls off rather quickly. Don't expect a lot of bottom. With only 5 watts and 4" speakers, this is what you would expect. My Ovation acoustic/electric six string guitar also sounds great through this amp.

Solid Amp

By Mike

from LA, CA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

I have the Micro Cube. That being said: The Micro Cube Bass RX is a solid performer. When this amp arrived I did not have a Bass handy. So, I decided to plug-in my Shecter C-1 Classic (oh what fun)! With the Eq set in neutral (half)(bass, mid, treble) the COSM set at Super Flat, this AMP made the sweetest highs (fun with a guitar). However that is not what you want to know. Two days later, I finally delivered the birthday gift. Once pluged-in, the Bass RX delivered a solid performance (Traben Array 4 Limited). My advice is for you to visit your local dealer and plug-in. Do not limit your self; try every combination. Finally remember, this is a battery operated amp intended for mobile performance (by the way, it works well with it's little brother, the Micro cube).

WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!!!

By DEAN THOMAS

from Lancaster PA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

I bought this amp to play at a ?Music For Everyone? benefit that did not have any electricity in the area that we were scheduled to perform. When I first got it home I was worried that it would not be loud enough?. BOY WAS I WRONG. I had friends who said they could hear me as they were coming in from the parking lot 75 -100 yards away. I had people coming up all during our performance to see what I was using. One guy even said to his wife ? I gotta get one of those!? I put it up about waist high so that I could change amp styles and effects for the different styles of songs that we were performing . The variety of sounds that I was able to get out of this little rig was amazing! The line out for recording can be used to go into another system if needed for large venues. The only reason that I did not give this 5 stars was, as other people said the drum machine tempo is really difficult to adjust.. but I only use that to play around with so, it is not a major issue to me. My other amp is a 500 watt CMD12 MARKBASS which only weighs in at about 35 pounds and has been more than enough when I play in clubs and larger venues with a full band. Any larger venues are handled by the line out feature. My days of lugging around those huge bass rigs have come to an end. I have everything I could every need in these 2 small amps. Feature packed portabllity

By Buddy Venugopal

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

The MICRO CUBE RX Bass Combo Amp is a great amp to tote along to practices. Its super light and has a lot of sound for its size. It offers plenty of control for different tones and the built-in drum patterns are an added bonus. I particularly like the fact that you can set the tempo by 2 pushes of a button. You can also drive a bigger system with this which is a nice way to go from a soft and controlled practice session to really letting loose. A really good buy.

Great little Amp!

By John murphy

from Georgia

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

Very cool practice amp! Works for bass or guitar and really like having the built in effects and drum patterns. If into Metal you might want to add your favorite distortion pedal. Plus like that you can use the headphone jack as a line out for recording or connecting to PA. Over all a great portable amp!

Awesome sounding practice amp!

By John murphy

from Atl, Ga.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

I play bass and guitar and use amp for both. This amp does a great job with either. Can't beat the portability . Saw a review stating no line out, but you can use the headphone output for that function as stated in description. The only thing you may need when using guitar is adding a distortion pedal to add gain. A Good solid amp.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

Only alkaline batteries can be used (six at a time). The amp would be so much more practical if one could use rechargeable batteries that absorb power when plugged in. I cannot get an answer from Roland regarding whether the batteries are weakened when the amp is plugged into a socket. Also, instead of the plastic hand-strap that comes with it, I suggest using an old guitar strap, which will fit the side knobs perfectly. Otherwise, it could not be better, given its purpose.

Comments about Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp:

Very nice portable amp. What's not to like . Very versatile piece of gear. I play 6 string electric bass and wanted something to move with me, out to the park, the back yard patio, without moving my other heavier 75 and 150 watt amps around . I purchased mine pre- owned at GC trading in another Roland amp. Lots of features makes it versatile and a good partner in fun for on the go music making .

For 5 watts hey the sound is off the chain , the speakers responsive and crisp the onboard drum kit , EFX chorus flanger and WAH and 7 amp settings, and MP3 input, I can't think of much else you need for on the go fun.... When on my patio yes the neighbors can hear me easily at 55% volume and I have wooded lots around . Great gear investment .

Listen --- this is not an SVT, but for playing with an acoustic guitar, a low volume electric, playing along with CD's or plugging in your MP3, this amp is great. Plenty of good quality effects and tones. Go to the nearest guitar center that has one in stock and plug into one. I bought mine on the spot and use it every day.

I bought this to take to songwriting sessions at another band member's house. It's great for what it is. Small, lightweight. Has a decent bass sounds at low volumes if you mess with the various knobs including reverb & delay and multiple amp simulators. Make sure you leave it on the floor, and best near a wall or in a corner for best projection. Please have complained about no line out, but I wouldn't take it to a gig to line out to a PA anyway. The best added feature is the metronome/drum machine. Really useful for both individual practice and setting the "groove" for songwriting.
