Great overall

By MattUBR

from Portland, OR

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I have been using this amp for almost 2 years, and am currently running a Roland RD-700, a Yamaha P120, and a Nord Lead 2X through it. The sound quality is superb for Highs and Mids, but it does not handle lows very well (sound can get very muddy) - although their KCW-1 subwoofer would theoretically fix that. There is a bit of a hiss from it on my setup, but most of that is coming from one of my keyboards. It has PLENTY of volume - I have had many sound techs underestimate it at shows. Construction is very sturdy, and my only complaint is that the single handle on top rather than one on each side makes moving it a bit clumsy. It is one of the more expensive keyboard amps out there, but after 2 years of daily use (average of 2-3 hours of practice every day, or a show) it has no signs of wear and tear - audible or visual. Great value, even for the cost, but if you want to push low end make sure you utliize the sub out.

Fantastic

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

My mother bought me this for a Christmas present, on accident, since this is a keyboard amp and I play guitar. However, this has worked extremely well for me and the sound is so pure.. I think I'm just going to keep this, haha. This amp is fantastic guys, you won't regret it.

Perfect

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I have owned this amp for about 3 years. I have used it traveling with roland drums - It has been rugged and sounds great. It is currently being with used a korg keyboard - killer sound - highly recommend. It is heavy, but in my opinion, that's how you tell when you've got a good speaker.

Great so far

By Oskor

from Salt Lake City, UT

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I've had this amp for about a month now and it has greatly helped the quality of my sounds in practice and live. I used to be drowned out when the songs got loud or get muddy when I turned my volume up on the PA. With this baby I sound great all the time. I piano/synth in a rock band with a Yamaha S90 ES. If you need power and clarity look no further!

Are you serious?

By Stan Riley

from Jasper, AL

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

That is what the sales person said when I asked about another amp. I bought the amp then and have not regretted it. The first day I bought it we ran guitar, vocals, drums, and garageband tracks. This amplifier really puts out and it can shake the floor with deep bass. The highs are really crisp too.

Blown Tweeter

By DMJ2003

from Memphis

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I have owned this amp for about 3 months and my tweeter is out. I dont even use the highs volume on the amp and the thing is already blown. I use it on stage alot and it does not seem to want to put out as I expected it too. Every since I got it out of the box I have noticed this funny smell that comes from the amp when played...maybe its my cheap SP-200 Korg that I have hooked up to it...But I will get it fixed and see what happens with it now...plugged into a Motif ES8...overall the see and hear the greatness in this amp and hope it doesnt return to me doing the same..

Not just good but Great

By Brutus

from Tucker, GA

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

We first stated to use the amp in our sanctuary about five years ago. We play two keyboards through it and we also feed it through our mixer to other speakers in the sanctuary. Excellent sound quality, easy to move around just overall great. We bought another one today and we cannot tell the difference cosmetically between the two.

The Ultimate Amp Thus Far

By ROY PILGRIM

from Bryan, TX

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

180 watts of pure tone for my Yamaha 88 key electric piano. I love the ins and outs for a great variety of connections, should they be needed. Construction is top notch. Good thing it comes with wheels, because of the weight. But, I had rather deal with the weight issue than not have the tone & deliverance this baby has. Besides, I always have my folding 2 wheel dolly if it's needed. My Roland/Fender Strat Synth guitar set up even sounds good thru this! I really love this amp, so, why the "4" rating? This amp would have received a "5" if only a cover had come with it. My amp collection involves nine amps & speaker cabs, and I get a little bent when one does not come with a cover, or worse, no cover is available. Come on, all you amp & instrument manufacturers, an amp like this not only deserves a protective cover, but needs one for storage & movement. I challenge you to step up to the plate on this concern and complete the manufacturing process by making protective covers available for all your products. Then, you will see more ratings with 5 stars!

Lasts Forever

By Mark Moore

from Alabama

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

This amp will not die!!!! I first got this amp when i was in college and 8 years later this thing is even sweeter than when i first got it. It is perfect for keyboard, vocal, and guitar. That's all I've tried but I can imagine you could do more. It has wheels I usually place the instrument on top and roll it around. This thing easily fills a high school gym with volume to spare. No distortion at high volumes. You will make more money using this amp then you will spend purchasing it. It shows no signs of stopping.

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

Great Amp! Good Quality. They only downside is it's VERY heavy when you need to lift it to put it in a truck/Suv which is the only reason why I didn't give it 5 Stars. But At least it comes with wheels on the bottom and most importantly, the Sound is great. It really kicks!

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I used to play professionally, and am thinking about getting back in - upgraded my keys (Korg Kronos) and needed a new amp. I ordered this based on many other reviews of the amp and the prices seemed pretty much the same everywhere. The sound quality is really great - I've only used it in my home studio, and have never had it above 5 or so - plenty of power for a much larger venue. The only downside is the weight - it's pretty heavy - although it does come with casters which help (although not while lugging it upstairs).

Great, solid amp - one minor complaint

By Doug Archerd

from Battle Ground, WA

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I just bought the Roland KC-550 amp to complement my existing KC-500 and run in stereo for gigs. It's a great amp, really solid with excellent sound that covers the full range of what my keyboard rig can put out. The 550 is slightly more powerful than its predecessor, the 500, so I have to watch the balance between them when running them both in stereo but the sound is fantastic. My only complaint about both the Roland KC-500 and KC-550 is that they don't glue the little brass accent disks tightly enough to the top of the knobs, and they are routinely falling off. As long as I can find and recover them and then put them back on with Gorilla Glue, they stay put thereafter, but you'd think they could use a higher quality glue.

Comments about Roland KC-550 180W Keyboard Amp:

I bought this to use this in the Dunwoody Jazz Conservatory primarily with my Roland VR-09
      (mostly playing 'B3)
I'm also using it with my 4/4 Cello / GT-1 Pedal / Realist transducer with excellent sound.
Friends can plug up any Guitar / Bass / Mic they happen to bring in, never a problem.
Loud enough that it impressed my recording studio owning friend when I brought it in one night. Stereo XLR outputs were notable to him.
I'm contemplating buying a second for full L+R coverage and better "leslie" synth effect

I bought this NEW in box at the Alpharetta GA store, great buying experience!
