Overview

In the JUNO tradition of great sound, compact design, easy operation, and affordable price, the JUNO-Gi delivers big. What propels this power-synth into another realm, however, is its supercharged feature set with over 1,300 fresh sounds, an onboard 8-track digital recorder, and pro effects created by BOSS. Write, record, mix, master, and perform anywhere with the new JUNO-Gi.

New Sound Bank
A new sound library has been created for the JUNO-Gi, with over 1,300 factory selections that cover a universe of instrument types and musical styles. Tone Category buttons help you scan the vast library and locate the perfect sound with ease and speed. New to the JUNO-Gi are Live Sets, which comprise up to four layered tones each—create your own unique sounds by stacking and/or splitting tones and saving them together as a Live Set. Furthermore, a Special Live Set section takes maximum advantage of the JUNO-Gi sound engine for the most advanced synth sounds.

Performance and Portability
The JUNO-Gi has been designed with the performer in mind. It provides supreme mobility thanks to its lightweight body and battery-power compatibility (up to three hours of continuous operation with eight NiMH AA batteries), letting you experience the freedom of performance in any environment. Roland's battery-powered amps such as the BA-330 and KC-110 are perfect companions for the JUNO-Gi during street performances. Performers will also appreciate the JUNO-Gi's friendly front panel, which is covered with hands-on controls, clearly marked and easy to reach. The enlarged 240 x 64 graphic LCD provides clear visibility and fast navigation, even on outdoor gigs with troublesome sun glare.

Digital Recording & FX
The Pro recording onboard! The JUNO-Gi's built-in eight-track digital recorder with 64 virtual tracks provides a full-featured multitrack studio environment, complete with dedicated transport controls and mix faders. The recording media is a removable SD or SDHC card, with up to 192 hours of recording time possible when using a single 32GB SDHC card. Also supported is full import and export of track data with a computer. The same pro performance effects found in the BOSS GT series are built into the JUNO-Gi, as well as effects designed for vocal processing. Connect a guitar or microphone directly and apply these top-quality effects for instant CD-quality sound as you record.

USB MIDI & Audio
The JUNO-Gi's multifunction USB port offers both audio and MIDI functionality—a one-cable connection to your computer is all you need to stream audio and MIDI back and forth and interface with your favorite music software. When you combine the JUNO-Gi with the bundled Cakewalk Sonar LE 8.5 software, you have a complete digital audio workstation package for your PC. In addition, the MIDI Controller Mode lets you operate the JUNO-Gi as a MIDI master keyboard for controlling your DAW or external MIDI devices.

Great Keyboard for someone on a tight budget

By Derek S.

from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

If you're not ready to spend a fortune on the Jupiter-80 or Jupiter-50, this is your answer. The extensive list of arpeggios on this thing are great for intros and solos. Many of the sounds sound like they have a hint of Roland's famous SuperNATURAL technology in it. My expectations for a keyboard have been matched, if not outdone, by the Juno-Gi. Everything works on cue, even though it can take some time to navigate for layers/splits. The Juno-Gi feels solidly built and looks great. It looks like a keyboard any professional would use. The recorder is easy and convenient to use. I've owned this Gi since January and it still works like new. If you're looking for a keyboard to wow audiences at your next venue like I did, this is for you.

expensive junk

By jeff cummins

from Moab Utah

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

i bought a Juno G for $1000. it worked two hours before having bad problems two years of bickering with Roland and they ended up doing nothing to resolve this problem. im a disabled man. bought this with my disability payoff thinking it would give me a chance to get off disability. My dreams were shattered. I highly recomed everyone spend your money elsewhere. Roland makes inferior Products which are very expensive and Roland has no conscience about ripping off a disabled man. I oersonally will take my Juno G and smash it on stage, film it and blast my feelings about their products all over the internet. If i can help one person NOT GET RIPPED OF BY ROLAND i have done good. Be wise. spend your money elsewhere. Roland makes poor quality products and the people who are supposed to help You are rude. ut if you just like loosing a lot of money for junk...go ahead and buy one...i tried to warn You

nice

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

Sound are very good. love that you can use the guitar fx on the keyboard patches. guitar effects a pretty good.8 track recorder is ok not awesome. one of the faders popped off not cool. super glue fix it though. pre set patches are fun and some what tweekable via cutoff and res filters. easy to set up you own patches. the synth leads are lacking IMO. ive had it 6 months er so and i am over all happy with the keyboard. i think its priced way to high for what you get. i use this keyboard as a sketch pad. and thats about it.

A lot of power in a small package

By John Marzich

from Arroyo Grande, Ca

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

This is very under rated from my experience. I have a kurzweil pc3, novation x61, korg m-388, yamaha xs61 and more. Basically this is not as deep as those but for a keyboard with 1300+ new sample sounds and many of them fantastic. The br-8 inside or close to it. The sounds are pristine and can be very deep on the envelope(s) editing. A sequencer would have been nice but really this shines on a scratch pad keyboard for startinmg projects or completeing on this as a standa-alone. Fidelity and noise is perfect for a 24bit unit on the converters. Download the manual and you will be surprised at all this can do.

S P L E N D I D

By Josh Hartig

from Acton, MA

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

Can't beat the Juno Gi for the money...I actually traded my Korg M50, 73-key at a local Guitar Center for a new Juno Gi - I prefer the organics of the Juno's hard disk recorder vs the deep, yet complicated M50 sequencer... I can plug a mic right into it and record my kids... The sounds are B+/A- most of the way - coming from a Kurzweil upbringing I have higher standards I guess...but for an all in one unit and for the money, the Juno Gi gets 5 stars from me - It's a great song writing tool and fun with little kids, actually -

If only I had one of these years ago

By Marty

from Swedesboro, NJ

Comments about Roland JUNO-Gi Synthesizer:

For the sum of a mere two months car payments, this is the best investment I've made in a long time. The critics point out trivial shortcomings. Sure, you can't load samples. And yes, the sampling is limited to 41K. But, let's step back and look at what this $1K wonder has to offer. First, the 1300 presets. I've had the Gi for over a month and I have yet to play with all of the sounds. Next, the real-time controls. I'm not taken by all the hype around modelling synths (critics site as a Roland shortcoming). I just want to put together some real world sounds and maybe add some deviation. The cutoff, resonance and EQ knobs - plus the BOSS effects - provide a sufficient pallet and range of control. The 8-track recorder is clean and swift. Loading and saving operations complete before you move your fingers to the transport controls. I have yet to tap into the functionality of this instrument (If only I could lock myself into a room for a month). The bottom line: I'm 50 years old. I'm from the pre-digital era, where songs were recorded using the painstaking method of analog tape. However, in the past 20 years, I've been using DAWs to create music. While computer-based composition is productive, after a while, I felt a void. Editing songs felt more like editing a Word or Excel document. With the Gi, I have found a solution that allows me to develop songs in a performance mode - something that has been lacking for a long time. The Gi was a no-brainer; what I have come to expect from Roland.
