Onstage or in the streets, the Roland JUNO-Di keyboard is a traveling musician's dream. It's lightweight, it can run on batteries, and it's easy to use, yet it performs and sounds like a heavyweight synthesizer. The synth is packed with a wide variety of over 1,000 top-quality sounds to choose from. It has a friendly direct-access control panel for easy editing and a Song Player for larger-than-life performances. First-timers and pros alike will love this friendly, portable, wonderful-sounding Roland keyboard.

Over 1,000 great sounds
At the heart of this exciting new synth is a top-of-the-line voice engine that delivers world-class sounds including grand and electric pianos, lush strings, beautiful guitars, powerful brass, percussion, banks of exotic instruments, modern synth sounds, and much more. The sound-bank is so diverse it can complement any style of music. If you want to customize the sounds, the JUNO-Di keyboard's dedicated Sound Modify knobs on the front panel let you instantly cater each sound to your specifications, even while you're playing. A software editor is also provided if you prefer more advanced audio editing with your PC.

Simple navigation
With so many sounds onboard, it could be a daunting task to find what you need. But fear not-the Roland JUNO-Di simplifies the process of finding sounds with its dedicated category buttons. If you want a piano, for example, just press the Piano button. You can even assign your most-used sounds to the Favorite buttons for instant access. Editing is easy too. If you want to create layers or splits, dedicated buttons and the large LCD make the process fast and friendly. And don't forget the onboard rhythm patterns, which can be easily adjusted on the fly with a dedicated tempo control. This Roland synth is a great tool for practice and performance.

Portability
The JUNO-Di was born to travel. It's strong yet amazingly lightweight (under 12 pounds), making it easy to lift and carry. The battery compatibility lets you play for up to five hours without plugging in (uses Ni-MH AA-size rechargeable batteries). When used in conjunction with a battery-powered amp such as Roland's CUBE Street or MOBILE CUBE, the JUNO-Di can be played and heard anywhere. A battery-life indicator on the front panel ensures that you won't lose power unexpectedly.

Sing along
More than meets the eye, this Roland keyboard lets you plug a microphone into its external input and process your voice through the built-in vocoder. A dedicated reverb is assigned to the input, so you can add lush ambience to your voice without taking away from the main onboard effects. Sing along with your performances and transform your voice in colorful and creative ways, from silky smooth to sci-fi robotic.

Built-in Song Player
With the synth's USB memory port and Song Player function, the JUNO-Di enables direct playback and control of backing tracks from a USB key. You can play MP3, WAV, AIFF, and SMF files, and control them from the dedicated buttons on the front panel. Impress your audiences with full-band performances from a single keyboard. Additionally, the Center Cancel feature lets you sing along karaoke-style with audio files in the Song Player for a complete entertainment experience. You can also connect MP3 players directly to the Roland JUNO-Di through its external input.

Simply put, this Keyboard with its very impressive feature package, flexibility and conveniences if made just a few short years ago would have cost several thousand dollars easily. This is the first synth I've ever owned that has more than 1,000 sound patches, 1,300 to be precise and it's got the most fantastic line up of very professional sounds, and musical cultural multiple genre and thematic friendly expressions on many levels of its functionality as well. This synth with its 1300 sounds, midi controller, D BEAM volume control usable while in play, voice sing along, and voice recorder, 127 favorites saving user presets allowing you to save favorites in a very convenient all add up to making you the best musician, performer, entertainer, or sound engineer you can be for the money. This is a synthesizer that also has a cd that you can use to edit sounds from the board, and store them in your computer and play them via the midi controller like a several thousands of dollars synth, and it has a usb data back up disk to back up any and all settings you utilize within anywhere in the board. This is too good a deal to pass up and I mean its even made very well. Being made out of high quality plastics, its plenty tough enough to where if you take care of it it will return the favor. Just a note, but many a very old Hammond B3 organs had keyboards mad of much cheaper and thinner plastic than this is and they have lasted for numerous, like 4 or 5 or 6, decades. This board could last some of you the rest of your playing life. Great board for the price, there is really nothing else out there for the same price anywhere!!!!

This is my first Roland board. It sounds great in the studio however it sounds terrible live. The synths will blow you away and the organs are pretty decent too. I will be selling mine for a used Yamaha Motif or new MM6 even...
Pros:
1.Lightweight.
2.Media player built in for playing tracks live or practicing to music.
3.Better feeling keybed than others at this price.
4.Excellent synths.I don't think you will find anything better especially at this price. It is chocked full of samples in that area.
5.Better sounding organs for a keyboard at this price.
6.Some extreamly strange sounds such as "Meditation Piano" that are fun to experiment with.
7.You can set custom presets for realling your sounds quickly and easliy.
8. Comes with software for editing sounds.
9 Functions such as the D-Beam are very customizable.

Cons:
1.Needs to be EQ'ed for your live situation to effectivly cut through the mix for even being heard at a decent volume.
2. Pianos, wurlitzers, brass sections, rhodes leave something to be desired next the the Yamaha MM or MO series.
3. All the pianos are WAY TOO DARK sounding for live applications.
Feels better than all the other keyboards at this price. Chocked full of excellent synths from the original Juno and Jupiter series. Great feeling keybed.

Comments about Roland JUNO-Di Synthesizer Keyboard:

I just got a great deal on a used DI from GC. The paint scheme looks like a 3p or 106. There are plenty of sounds to find a few you like, and they are easily modified. Pianos, organs, strings and even the synth sounds are excellent. Splits, dual and stacking are great and easy to use, performance mode is great too. I use the mic in as a guitar line in, which can add reverb, so the DI is like a little mixer. At 1/2 the price of a new DS this is a great Juno, with the right monitors or amp the sounds are very very close in quality. Icing on the cake is the Di weight like 10 lbs and runs on batteries !

Comments about Roland JUNO-Di Synthesizer Keyboard:

I bought this for my daughter so she could have her own keyboard that was easy to use, easy and lightweight to transport. Although she's not much into connecting to the computer and is happy with the built in sounds, I love that it has such great editor and librarian software and up to date drivers. Roland doesn't even do this for their highest end flagship keyboards (jupiter!). This keyboard can grow with her for many years and I can see her taking it to college with her!

Comments about Roland JUNO-Di Synthesizer Keyboard:

The light weight and potability of the Juno Di was a huge factor for me. I use it mostly for the more traditional instrument sounds. Good variety of pianos, electric pianos and organs, which are passable. Coming out of a Roland KC-550 they sound pretty terrific. There are more authentic sounding units out there, but they mostly either weigh or cost a good deal more. Modifying the attack, release, reverb, cutoff and resonance is easy to do on the fly since each has it's own dedicated knob. There are some extremely impressive 70's-style synth sounds. I love this keyboard and can't wait to get more familiar with it.

Comments about Roland JUNO-Di Synthesizer Keyboard:

I passed this Di up and bought a Gi, then a Korg Krome only to be unhappy with how complicated they both were, when all I really needed was a great sounding portable synth with some great acoustic sounding pianos and EPs that could also do some arpeggios and drums for live jamming with friends.

I can't believe I missed it and now I own it, it was a DOH! moment! This little keyboard is so simple and easy to use and configure, has GREAT sounds and plenty of them. Easy to split and layer, MFX is easy to use unlike many workstation keyboards that have 20 menu layer complicated setups for effects.

I also bought the wireless adapter and we use it with Roland's Air Recorder App on our iPhones to wirelessly record ideas. Its a great app and works great with the keyboard.

It also has an excellently programmed PC Editor and librarian that expands this keyboards abilities far beyond the onboard interface.

The only down side I have found and I wish Roland could fix with a software update is that when saving performances, it doesn't save your arpeggio, chord memory or rhythm settings. You have to manually do that every time. You can't program ARPs or new Rhythm patterns either. :( Not a deal breaker because there is more offered here for basic playing and it's dead easy and fast to dial up what you need on the fly, but it would be nice to have it saved to a sound set.

All in all, for the price, this keyboard really packs a lot in, ability to add sounds and edit on the PC, easy interface, portability, etc. We are very happy!

Very light weight and I look forward taking this on the road for some small gigs soon. I'm very pleased with this board.

At first it's not as intuitive as many reviews have stated, but with a little time and the excellent manual you get a feel for the way Roland organizes things pretty quickly. Then it becomes pretty easy to get great results, but keep reading the manual to make use of all the extra goodies.

My only complaint is the rhythm accompaniments are limited to 4/4 beats. Would be nice to have a few waltzes and varied shuffle beats.

            By Allen Halstead

            from Chatham, NY

Comments about Roland JUNO-Di Synthesizer Keyboard:

After living with this keyboard for 16 months I think I know it pretty well. It's ok but nothing that all these 5 star ratings say it is. I find the piano sounds weak, the organ parts not much better and the string sounds are scratchy ... In order to make major changes to a sound you need to spend hours on a computer figuring it out ... guess I am old fashioned but it was a lot easier in the old days to make changes to the sound. In essence, you get what you pay for ... if you are a keyboard player doing a lot of gigging, this will not be your main piece.
