Overview

The Roland GC-1 GK-Ready Stratocaster guitar is one of the V-Guitar Series, an authentic Fender Stratocaster guitar equipped with a special Roland divided pickup with a 13-pin output. The GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 can be used with both standard guitar equipment and revolutionary Roland V-Guitar category products like the GR-55 and VG-99.

Roland V-Guitar category products like the GR-55 and VG-99 put the unlimited potential of digital technology into the hands of guitarists everywhere. To harness this power, Roland developed the GK Divided Pickup, a special pickup that allows each of a guitar's strings to be processed independently. Connecting the GC-1 guitar to a V-Guitar System opens up a world of magical music expression to the guitarist, including instant alternate tunings, transforming the guitar sound into another instrument entirely, and much, much more.

As a guitar, the GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1 is a 100% authentic Fender Strat guitar, with the same legendary sound and feel that players have loved for over 50 years. It features a solid contoured alder body, maple neck (with rosewood or maple fingerboard), three single-coil pickups with 5-way switching, a Fender synchronized tremolo bridge, a 3-ply pickguard, American in-line tuners, and chrome hardware.

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I love my American Deluxe Strat, and wanted to get the GK1 pickup off of it. So I thought I would try the Roland Strat. The first and fifth string pickups had a very low volume. All of the others were normal volume. If you turned up the volume to hear these strings, the volume on the other strings was way to loud. So the built in GK must be bad. Also this is much smaller than I expected. And since it is made in Mexico, I will stick with the external Gk1 and return this. I would not rely on this for a gig.

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Volume on 1st and 5 Th strings was noticeably lower than the other strings. 1st string would fade in and out. So the built in GK pickup must be bad. I have a Fender American Deluxe Strat with a GK pick up and have no problems. The regular pickups work. Since this is made in Mexico, and it is much smaller than my American Strat (why?) I will return it and stick with the external pickup.

        right choice

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Superior to adding a pickup. Needed setup. neck dots tiny-had big ones added. cable has lots of conductors so it is a bit balky. Fender Pups strong & bright- can do harmonic squeals but not a lot of bass. With GR-55 makes great organ, very good strings, great modeling. many other effects lag- only good for slow playing. Adds a whole dimension to the band.

        Exceeded Expectations

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I got the Sunburst with the Rosewood fingerboard. I had been using the same old GK-2 pickup for about 16 years (nothing lasts any more LOL) and it was getting a little "fussy". So I decided I would get one with the guitar synth pickup built in. The guitar arrived in less than a week, packed in a sturdy shipping box. It doesn't come with a case but it comes with a pretty nice Fender/ Roland Gig bag. First off: This thing is flawless! Fit and finish are top of the line. This is a high end Mexican made Stratocaster! I will get to the synth in a minute but first I have to say it is worth the money as a guitar alone. The action is just right for me and the tone is to die for. The button/knob layout is worth mentioning: The five way switch is the same, but the volume/tone knobs are a little different. One volume knob on top, a tone in the middle but the bottom knob is the Synth volume. I love it! I never did understand the logic behind the old layout. Then there are the up and down patch buttons and the mixer switch. No need for that little connector cable to route the guitar sound into the GK Pickup, it's internal. The Hex pickup is all but invisible in the white pick guard until you flip the switch up. I enjoy watching the expressions on the faces in the audience when they see you play a guitar but piano and organ sounds (or whatever) come out.

        Black Strat

        By Michael Dosa

Comments about Roland GC-1 GK Ready Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I really wanted the sunburst finish but I wanted the maple neck more so black wins out. Guitar arrived as said in perfect condition. Plays like a dream. I did have an issue with the midi toggle switch not working but a quick call to Roland technical set me straight. I was using a Roland GI-10 which does not support the midi toggle switch. So all in all, very satisfied.
