First of all let me say that I have been playing semi professionally for almost 40 years and over that time I have owned many tube/solid state amplifiers including Fenders, Peaveys, Ampegs and Mesa Boogies. For the last thirty years I have been playing through Mesa Boogie Amps exclusively and have been very happy with them. I have actually liked a couple solid state amps that I have owned over the years and with the great reputation Roland has earned over the decades I took a chance and bought this amp.
I can say that I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked the GA-212 and plugged my go-to Stratocaster in. First, this amp is built like a tank and it is solid as a rock. Second, it is very easy to use with the basic controls and with additional gain, boost and voice buttons. Third, it's nice to have(count-em)5 different(1-4 & manual) channels to preset and use at the stomp of a foot. Lastly and most important are the tones that you can create with this amp are excellent. From a super clean shimmering tone to a full on metal crunch and everything in between is possible and can be stored in the presets making this amp MORE versatile than my Mesa's.
Some how this amp got a bad rap and I do not understand how, but I'm here to tell you this is a great and powerful amplifier without all the maintenance required with tube amps. Plus it has wonderful tone that compares favorably with my Mesa tube amps. This is a great amp and will remain part of my roster forever. If you're thinking about buying one, don't hesitate you won't be sorry. Peace, G-Man

Solid, workhorse of an amp, rugged built, lots of power

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

This combo amp is just what I was looking for. I wanted a combo amp that is simple and straight forward to use. It has power to spare at 200 watts. The cabinet is built to take the abuse of the road. The back of the amp has all the patching abilities needed. I use the Boss GT100 and patch into the amp both from the front and the back. With the push of one (1) button I can switch form the pre-amp of the amp to all the different pre-amps of the GT100. When recording, I run two lines to the console to achieve that big guitar sound. With the patching abilities of this amp, I can achieve the same sound when in the studio. This amp is a stereo amp, giving me a solid 100 watts per side. The tube amp that is in the GT100 is always the same every night. I program the GT100 to accommodate the entire night's song list. Bottom line, this amp delivers, you have to use all the features it offers to really get the most out of it. I have other players come and check out my rig, commenting my sound was solid. I would recommend this amp to anyone. Simple to use, rugged, power, stereo and can be stacked two high and linked together.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

This amp is a great all around amp for all playing styles. The sound is full...not to high or low in tonality. I wish it came with the pedal instead of me having to buy it later. Can't wait to get some Roland or boss pedals to see how the COSM works on it. If you have the money to pick one of these up...get it now. Trust me...you won't regret it

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

Finally, a digital amp with integrity. A digital amp that isn't trying to buffalo me with gimmicks. A digital amp with real warmth of sound...that can hold it's own with tube amps but without the fragility of tubes. Had a Lab Series 5 that did this, but it was 40 years old and some of the business no longer worked. No immitation heavy metal effects here...just beautiful tone...from clean to warm, full bodied distortion. I'm very pleased to own the Roland GA-212 and proud to play through it.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

The unit came shipped in a 'light' cardboard box.
It was smashed in almost every angle..holes in box. Unit itself had a nice bang on the bottom of the cabinet...not sure how the electronics will be effected long term.. Does sound great with almost infinite tones, and straight forward settings. Do wish there was a reverb or 'some' effects so that you wouldn't need to add pedals.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

When I first got this, I was not very happy. I bought it on Roland's rep. and the price was good.
I thought I would mess with it a couple days but probably semd it back.
It was ugly and the sound was muffled, blurry.
Someone told me Rolands need to be broken in. They dont sound good at first. This makes no sense to me, and it's probably just because I learned how to teak the knobs, But after a few days, it sounded really good and is fun to play.
And the "ugliness" gave way to me thinking its unique look was kinda cool.
Its built really sturdy, and is very versatile, with two FX loops, and you can add pedals to the pre-signal. It has a good clear sound and a good crunch sound on its own.
Bottom line is it sounds good and I like it.
Not sending it back. It is pretty cool.
I do still prefer my Marshall however.

Comments about Roland GA-212 2X12 200W Guitar Combo Amplifier:

THis is a great amp and is so powerful it's unbelievable. My needs call for it to be carried around a lot and at 68, that's impossible. I also need a more blues sound, this amp has a little more treble than I like but there's nothing that I can say to take away from it's quality.

At last a quality new replacement to my Gibson LABseries L5. If I could add one thing, it would be an Egnater-style 1W-200W front panel variable voltage knob.

This is a rewrite. After spending time with this amp I really like the sound and stereo features. I wish the documentation highlighted/explained what the amp can really do - I had to rely on internet tutorials by third parties to understand the amp's stereo capabilities. Plug the stereo outs on your MFX processor into the amp's two returns and engage the A/B EFX loop buttons on the front of the amp and you will have stereo effects! (not mentioned anywhere in the manual). This amp has a nice clean tone and plenty of power and castors!
