Overview

The Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor delivers 30W of audio punch through a rugged, high-quality 6.5" coaxial 2-way speaker with stereo preamp. The CM-30 is designed for home-studio and wide-ranging monitoring applications, but it can be used for live monitoring onstage as well.

The Roland CM-30 monitor speaker offers more than enough inputs to simultaneously connect a microphone, a keyboard, a rhythm machine, and a CD player, or to function as a mini-PA rig. It's equipped with 3 input channels, with one XLR mic/line input and 2 additional AUX RCA and stereo mini-phone inputs, making a total of 5 simultaneous inputs possible (4 stereo and one mono input). The Stereo Link function allows 2 CM-30s to be linked for true stereo output, which enables a total of 10 inputs.

Sound can be further refined with the Roland speaker's onboard 2-band equalizer. As with all other controls, the EQ knobs are conveniently located on the front panel for quick access.

The Roland CM-30 can be easily and safely toted from location to location thanks to its built-in handle grip, protective metal grille cover, and cabinet corner protectors. Other handy features include a stereo headphone jack and mic stand adapter.

Features
  • 6.5" coaxial, 2-way speaker with stereo preamp
  • 30W output
  • 3 input channels, with one XLR input for mic/line and 2 additional aux inputs
  • Stereo Link function for stereo connection between 2 units, for a total of up to 8 stereo inputs and 2 mono mic/line inputs

I was hired to do a pit orchestra gig where I needed to play 3 guitars - everything from metal, pop, & jazz on my electric guitar through a VG-88, and several nylon string & steel string acoustic parts; including triggering MIDI sound modules. My traditional guitar amps were not fitting the bill and there was no room for a wedge monitor from the house. The CM-30 sounds incredible with a flat frequency response. Having the 3 channels made this a perfect fit. I will most certainly use it as an acoustic amp again too, as it is quieter than most acoustic guitar amplifiers I have heard at 3 to 4 times the price. I am doing the gig with only one. I would like to buy a second at some point for the additional power and the stereo link feature. The small size makes it perfect for acoustic gigs, pit orchestra gigs, and worship music settings. Having the controls on the front & the connections on the rear make adjustments easy, especially where space is limited. I highly recommend this product.

I needed a small amp that's portable and acceptable in sound quality. This amp did not meet my expectations. Past 4 on the volume, the sound distorted and was intolerable. On 4 the amt of sound was minimal. It is very light-weight love that, but it is of no use if the sound sucks. So I took it back.

CAN'T LOSE WITH ROLAND

By varaha

from ESCONDIDO, CA.

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I bought this to use as a little PA. I plugged in with my Tele when I brought it home from UPS. I'm blown away by the tone. Now I use it as my practice amp. There's a master volume so you can crank the channel vol. and get grease. I'm really pleased with this amp. The guy at UPS saw the Roland logo on the box and said,"Roland, You can't go wrong."

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I use 2 CM-30s to amplify my EWI 4000s. A lot of sound for small speakers. I would buy them again.

A Must Have for any serious musician

By JAMES MOSIER

from Williamsville NY

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I could not be happier with this amp. Wanted a small light weight amp to use mainly for practice or a small solo venue. I use a Roland FP-5 keyboard and the common Boss Dr 880 drum machine. This amp delivers very good quality for it's size and capacity. All you can ask for in a 30 watt amp. 3 Channels 2 of which are stereo with a XLR mic input. On some drum settings you will notice on a heavy bass drum setting it will cut out a little. Probably saving the speaker from being over driven. I returned a 100 watt Ampeg bass amp that could not deliver the nice keyboard sound this cube amp has. You will not be disappointed.

PowerHouse Cube!!

By G.Palm

from Ocean City,NJ

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I purchased this CM 30 Cube to use with my Yamaha MM6 Synthesizer, both being my first musical experiences. This cube is very well built and the sound is Great. The features are many, you have 5 inputs, bass, treble, and headphones for quiet jam sessions.I love that it 's small enough to fit anywhere you need it,but powerful enough (30 watts) to express that Roland sound quality crystal clear.Pro or beginner,Buy it this a great Deal !!

A purchase I didn't regret later!

By Scott Fury

from west palm beach FL

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I'm a pro Soundman, Drummer, guitarist and singer, and I design and build speakers. This little beast is one of the most usefull toys I've come across and I already have multiple similar type full range mini pa monitors. If you need a portable studio monitor quality box for living room rehearsal, local stage monitoring, or especially Guitar Modeler tweaking....this is it! After some inital fooling around, I tested it with my GNX3k's against my custom coax 12" monitors (for live), a small bose type line array, and a small 3 way pa. The tweaking of the modeler through the CM-30 translated over to the other systems very very well. In other words, you can adjust your modelers for direct to pa use and it will sound pretty darn good at your gig. Plus you can route a drum machine or cd into it to adjust how your guitar modeled amp will sit in the mix, I.E. levels and tone. I also find it really usefull for troubleshooting gear and as a portable monitor for walk in sound gigs. Nice well rounded product. A pleasure in a world full of junk products.

Small & powerful

By Verne Giddings

from Bothell, WA

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I have a large Roland Jazz Chorus 50 that just got to be too heavy to lug around. I bought the CM 30 Cube as a replacement for use at church. This little box has more than enough power for our medium sized sanctuary and the sound is clear and bright. This is one of the best purchases I've made in some time!

Just what I needed

By steven

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

Well, first thing to say is I've never returned a piece of Roland gear and this is no exception. Good, clean, accurate sound. Plenty of bass and treble for it's size. I use it as a monitor to play in bars. Vocal: SM-57 through a Boss VE-1, Guitar: Taylor T5 through a Boss FRV-1. I run a "line out" signal from the headphone output, (adjustable volume control), via 1/4" stereo to RCA L&R adapter into the house stereo system. Sounds great through the house and I can hear myself perfectly. I use an LP record case for transport, fits like a glove.

Just what I needed

By Brian Lee

from Rockville, Maryland

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

This is a high quality and flexible small monitor which I am using with my voice students to practice their mic technique as well as for amplification for myself for smaller venues. The daisy chaining possibilities are cool, although I am not using that yet. This was a good deal.

      A great lightweight amp!

      By GINA

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I couldn't believe how light these cubes were; I got two of them for at home practice with my new Korg Kross and my mic and it's wow for all of it! I highly recommend getting at least two of them, especially for a small coffeehouse/restaurant type of gig. They're even mountable on mic stands. Gina Marie

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I bought this to use while practicing with recorded music (YouTube, etc.). I wanted something that was full range / flat response so that I could get a true representation of my guitar through the Tech 21 Fly Rig. Boy does this deliver. The sound is smooth and full. I'm getting usable bass down to 50 Hz with smooth midrange and treble extension to the limit of my hearing (12 KHz). Dispersion is also quite good so I don't have to be exactly on axis to get good sound. I have not tried it with the band so I can't comment on how well it would work as a personal monitor in a live setting but based on my experience with the Mackie SRM-150 I suspect this Roland would be up to the task with no issues provided it was up on a stand and close to the performer. In a live setting I'd expect to roll the bass down a bit to protect the woofer and clean up the sound.

On the down-side, the system is heavier than I'd like. The little mic-stand adapter does not inspire confidence. But, again, I didn't buy it for stage monitor purposes so I'm OK with it as is.

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:

I got this product for my son to use as an amp for his iPad/Synth app in his rock band. They play regular gigs and like to experiment with sounds. It's plenty powerful enough to kick out sound in smaller spaces and fine as a monitor in bigger ones. Plus the small size and built-in handle make it something he can easily haul himself (he's 10). He also plays keyboard and he can jack into it on rare occasions we don't have a PA at a gig. Great, inexpensive solution.
