The stylish AX-Synth represents Roland's new generation of remote keyboards, but for the first time, this one has a sound generator onboard. It's self-contained and equipped with powerful, solo-oriented sounds from Roland's latest, greatest synths.

All In One
The AX-Synth has everything you need to steal the show. Unlike most remote synths of yesteryear, the AX-Synth is self-contained and loaded with hundreds of Roland's greatest sounds. External MIDI devices are not required. Everything is built-in and ready to rock.

Control Freak
The AX-Synth is packed with cool controllers for expressive live performance. Glide your fingers over the Ribbon Controller for ultra-smooth pitch bends. A Modulation Bar and dedicated control knobs are also provided for real-time sound shaping. Wave your hand over the invisible D Beam for attention-getting effects.

While the AX-Synth is completely self-contained, it's also capable of driving external instruments via MIDI. Plug into a MIDI device, and enjoy an unlimited world of sounds and textures, all controllable from the AX-Synth.

Custom Programming
The AX-Synth has a vault of great solo sounds onboard, but if you want to customize your sounds, you can download the dedicated PC software editor/librarian application. The AX-Synth's USB/MIDI connector makes communication to and from your computer fast and convenient.

Awesome Roland product, but it's not for everyone

By Eugene Florintsev

Comments about Roland Ax Synth Shoulder Synthesizer:

Got mine a week ago. I also own a Roland HP-700 stage piano. I am not going to explain what AX Synth is and what you can do with it - you will find plenty such info online. Here are the things I did not find on while researching and discovered after I got my hands on this instrument. Pros: - Great sound - It is light-weight and not "too big" as some people say (guitar length) - Expression controls are easy to use, modulation control is progressive, and finally gives me a way to control sound *after* a key is pressed. - Edit sounds from computer via USB, instead of cheesy little LCD with four buttons or something like that - Multiple ways to attach a strap - If desired, the unit can be set on a desk absolutely fine and used as in a DAW environment or just played that way. It has rubber feet and is as balanced as a regular keyboard. Warnings: - First and foremost, do not expect the typical weighted Roland keyboard feel. This is a speed-sensitive "springy" keyboard you find on most mid-range MIDI controllers, similar in feel to M-Audio. I am still learning to play well on it. Of course, the compromise is that the keyboard is lightweight and works when vertical. - The plastic case looks fragile. I have not broken anything yet, but it does not feel as resistant to everyday beating as, say, a regular electric guitar. - There is no way in Universe this will fit any guitar case or stand. And without a stand, what do you do with it, hang on the wall? You have to get a Roland stand. - It is nearly impossible to get intermediate signal out of the infra-red sensor (other than the binary full on - full off). Still, a cool feature for some effects. Overall, this is a unique instrument. I am keeping it and hope to learn to play it as well as a regular keyboard - in its own way. Hope this was helpful. Cheers!
