  • Roland RMP-5 Rhythm Coach

As reviewed by David Ross McFadden on 9/10/2008

The RMP-5 has many features that help me to improve my technique and meter. I really enjoy the coach, and stroke balance features. It is amazing how sloppy you can get and this tool got my triplets back in sync. Every serious drummer could benefit from this light, portable, and effective tool. The pad also reduces shock to the wrists, joints and hands that I experience from my other pads. I am quite pleased with my purchase of this product. Thank you for having the latest and greatest gear for those of us who never stop learning our art.

  • Amazing product

As reviewed by Chris Bliss on 1/3/2009

Simply put, all aspiring percussionists need this product. Properly used, the RMP series can make up for what all percussion staff miss. The RMP analyzes where you are in relation to the metronome. Instead of someone feeling if a phrase is fast or slow, you can see in real time whether each individual note is ahead or behind. With the "Stroke Balance" option, you can see if both hands are playing the same dynamic (instead of reading stick heights which can be a faulty read). Also you can still see if you are ahead or behind at different dynamic levels. This has also been fun to throw on my kit. The built in sounds are so fun to mess around with. I have even thrown effects pedals on the output to get some "out of this world" percussion sounds. It would have made my "growing up" in this community a lot easier if something like this existed back then. Even today it can still "kick my tail", and seeing my improvement visually is amazing.
