Great tone and features you can use anywhere.

The Roland 3W 1x5" MICRO CUBE GX combo amp gives you the same tone and versatility that you've come to know and love in the CUBE Series, and puts it in a battery-powered package that you can take anywhere. It features recording/Headphones output and stereo Aux input for MP3/CD players, etc. The MICRO CUBE GX can be powered on batteries (LR6 (AA) type x 6) or a supplied AC adapter. It also includes a carrying strap.

Rock for Hours on Batteries
The MICRO CUBE GX features the same ultra-compact footprint, battery-powered operation, and big tone that made the original MICRO CUBE such a massive hit around the globe. With up to 25 hours of playing time using six NiMH AA-size batteries, you can enjoy uninterrupted fun while jamming at home, at the beach, on camping trips, at parties-wherever! Increased power output delivers even better performance than before, and a chromatic tuner is built in, eliminating the need to carry an external tuner when you play.

8 Classic and Modern Amp Models
Filled with Roland's renowned COSM amps, the MICRO CUBE GX provides tones for playing any musical style, from ultra-clean jazz to heavy rock and everything in between. The newly added Extreme amp kicks things up a notch, giving you a massive voice for crushing, in-your-face metal riffs. There's also a MIC setting for using the amp with a vocal microphone. Five different EFX types are available to sweeten your sound, with a new Heavy Octave effect that works great for adding unique, ultra-low power to distorted tones. An independent Delay/Reverb processor is onboard as well, with a newly added spring reverb option for authentic surf and roots-rock sounds.

High-Quality Effects
There's no need to lug around pedals when the MICRO CUBE GX comes with eight DSP effects. All the essentials are included-from chorus and flanging to a phaser and tremolo effect. A separate Delay/Reverb processor lets you dial in anything from slapback and long delays to reverb and more (in addition to using one of the aforementioned modulation effects).

Total Recall
The new Memory function turns the MICRO CUBE GX into a dual-channel amp, greatly increasing its versatility. It couldn't be simpler to use-just dial up the amp tone and effects you want, hold the Memory button for a few seconds, and your settings are saved! After that, you can toggle between the saved setup and the current knob settings with a quick button press. Use it for saving a favorite sound, switching between rhythm and lead tones, or calling up a special sound for a particular song or style.

  • Somewhat disappointed

As reviewed by ANTHONY MONTESIONE on 10/17/2013

I had the old Micro Cube 4 years and used it on small gigs with my acoustic guitar. It was great. Saw ad for new Microcube, so I traded in the old model for this new one. It arrived and I noticed it was much lighter in weight than the old model. I loved the on/off switch on the new model. It was on top, not in the back of the unit. In the dimly lit clubs I worked in, I had a hard time finding that little on/off button. I tried to open the battery cover to put in the batteries. You have to push down on two plastic tabs. At first I could not get it opened. When I pried it open, I noticed that the battery cover was thin plastic, not a heavier well made one like on the original. The old cover closed like a door on a Rolls Royce. I noted the printed lettering on the controls was printed very small, much small than the easy to see lettering on the old model. I had to squint to see the lettering on the controls. I was disappointed with the sound as well. Looks like this unit has a bit more power, but the quality of sound was not as good as the old model in my opinion. I returned it and bought the Street Cube by Roland. Roland makes great amps but I think they cut corners to make the newer model less expensive to make. There was nothing wrong with the old model. I will look for another old model soon.

  • Great little amp

As reviewed by Laryssa Noyes on 4/18/2014

My guitar instructor was using this for his students and said that it was a great little amp. Well, I was in the market for a new amp because mine was a pos, and he suggested this one. It's the loudest amp out there, but, I only have a little room to play in so I can't be too loud because of neighbors. It has built in effects which aren't too bad, they're good enough for me because I'm still learning and I'm not overly picky about my effects. I do have an MXR classic 108 fuzz going into it and that makes it sound so cool. I can get anything from a crazy dirty metal sound to an acoustic guitar sound. It's small and lightweight which makes it easy to carry around, and it comes with a power cable so you don't have to buy one. This is really a great amp for beginners who got stuck with a crappy amp from a combo beginner pack.

  • the perfect practice partner

As reviewed by Micheal on 7/20/2014

Recently purchased from a local store, this little bugger packs a punch on 6 AA batteries. With this many options on such a small platform you do get your moneys worth if you intend on playing by yourself in practice sessions with the inputs and head phone jacks. I cannot think of a more versatile practice amp that sounds this amazing for the price.
