NEW REVIEW - Excellent for recording

I purchased this little wonder yesterday. In recent years my playing has been limited to my home recording studio. I have a collection of amp modeling units and was pleasantly surprised by the punch this one delivers. Many years ago I had a roland Cube and just loved the sound. I'm happy to say that their reputation remains intact. I find that, splitting my signal to this unit plus one of my other modeling units and going direct into the mixing board results in some authentic vintage sounds. I chose this unit over a Fender Champ, small Marshall or Vox alternative. You should check it out as well.

SOMETHING THIS SMALL???

This thing is AMAZING! I've had this amp for exactly 14 months and it is WONDERFUL. At first, I saw that there were many effects for a real small amp, so I'd figure that the quality was off. Man, this thing is loud, GREAT in quality, and AWESOME for practicing! This may not be superloud for a band practice or gigs, but it can still work (amazingly). I've had this for 14 months and it's STILL in great quality of sound, and I use this thing DAILY. I love this amp, I just wanna thank Roland so much!!!!

Great tone in a Micro sized package :-D

I bought this amp as something to play at home and not blow the windows out. I wanted a portable amp that could run on batteries for camping and had a decent tone. I did a side by side comparison of this amp and the Vox DA5. The Micro Cube won, but not by much. The DA5 is also a little louder, but the sound quality of the Micro Cube is far superior to the Vox. The Micro Cube is great if you like to take your guitar with you for camping/BBQs or want to play in a noise restricted area like an apartment. If you are looking for an amp to play live with, then this is not the amp you want. If you want to enjoy full sound and a great selection of effects without waking up the neighbors, this is the amp you have been looking for! I would recommend one to anyone that is looking for a good practice amp or someone that wants to learn to play.

Huge Sound in a Compact Box!

After extensively demoing the Micro Cube's big brothers, the Cube 30X and Cube 60, I just had to have an amp from this fine line of products. Since I desired a practice amp that could run either on batteries or AC power, I chose the Roland Micro Cube. Inside of this small and extremely rugged 10x9x7" box lives a HUGE sound! Although this amp is rated at 2 watts, its 5" speaker sounds much louder! The COSM amp models are phenomenal; giving great representations of the Boss AC-3, Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus, Fender Twin Reverb, Vox AC-30TB, Marshall JMP1987, MESA/Boogie Rectifier, and a microphone PA amp. Gain, volume, and tone are adjustable on those for dialing in the right sound. The built-in DSP effects are decent, my favorites being the chorus and reverb. Two effects may be chosen simultaneously, if desired: chorus, flanger, phaser, or tremolo on one knob; plus delay or reverb on an independent knob. For a fuller sound, use the 1/4" record out jack to turn off the built-in speaker and send the signal to your headphones, computer, or larger guitar amp. I've done this with a 450-watt SWR combo amp with extension cab, and it blew me away! My only complaint is that the Micro Cube's output signal is mono only, giving less depth to the DSP effects. Rounding out the highlights, the Roland Micro Cube has a convenient tuning fork in case you misplace your normal tuner. Auxiliary inputs in the form of a 1/4" jack and a 1/8" miniplug jack are present, making it easy to jam along with a CD/mp3 player or another instrument. A regular guitar strap, allowing the user to wear it and wander about with their guitar while jamming, can also replace the included carrying handle. The Roland Micro Cube is an excellent product, giving lots of bang for the buck. I highly recommend this product, as it's one of the best purchases I've ever made!

Best little amp on this planet

I play flamenco guitar. This amp is the only one I have ever used that produced the true sound of my guitar. I use it on the ACOUSTIC setting with the reverb all the way up. I am in heaven when I hear the sound it makes. I use it with batteries and after two weeks of playing on the weekend gigs, the batteries are still going strong. I do not use a microphone. Instead, I use the Matrix guitar tuner pickup, model MPU-1, with the suction cup attachement. It cost about $11.00. I just stick it on the rear lower portion of the guitar and it works better than any mic I have used. This combination can not be beat for sound, portability, and price. This thing is built like a brick. It is loud for 2 watts. Sounds like my 30 watt unit when I play it at the dance studio for flamenco dancers. I am really thrilled with this amp.

This thing is a little giant......

This is an amazing piece of equipment. It has the best (non spring) solid state reverb I have ever heard and when I got it to sound just about like a Mesa Boogie, I almost fell off the chair. Save a buck & get a bigger, muddier POS in the 15-25 watt range and live to reget it OR get one of these. Dare you to try this one first!

A good personal amp

The roland micro cube is an amazingly pumped up amp for its size. The settings it features are "Acoustic, JC Clean, Black Panel, Brit Combo, Classic, Rfier, and Mic" Its features many effects "Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Delay, and reverb." The true benefit of getting this amp is its portability, using 6 AA batteries it can be taken almost anywhere. Even though it has only 2watts it packs a punch. The only problem is that if u want to get serious about playing in a band you will definately need a larger amp.

Amazing compact amp.

I bought this amp about six months back, not really knowing anything about amps. I took it home and started playing on it, and was amazed by the sound the amp could put out! You can play virtually any style of music possible on a guitar on this amp, with rolands COSM amp modeling. The amps are replicated pretty well, you can get anything from a clear clean, to the almost exact sound as hendrix, to heavier stuff such as pantera and children of bodom. Another thing about this amp is the portability, you can take it just about anywhere, and if you need to be quiet in a noise restricted area or something, this amp is definitely good. It has good volume for a 2 watt amp, also. overall, it's a really good, durable amp.

The best things... come in small packages

I bought the Microcube from GC in Austin TX in June of 2009. I purchased it for use during a summer trip where space and weight would be an issue. I've played much bigger amps (who hasn't) and I've played better amps (who hasn't). But the microcube is a marvelous and a very serious instrument that completely dominates in it's own musical niche. Obviously with its small size, weight and option to run off of 6 AA sized batteries it turns your favorite electric guitar into a campfire side companion that can rival acoustic guitars in both volume and portability. The integrated effects perform well and give you a tool-kit of effects that can cover most musical styles. The instrument is quite stout and can put up with a fair amount of travel. The sound from this little box can go from clear bell like cleans to copious amounts of distortion. I've had a great time playing through this little gem. I'd readily purchase this again if anything happened to mine.

great practice amp!!!

The roland micro cube combo amp is a great amp for a bedroom player or for practice. the sound is amazing for a little 2 watt amp. It is very portable and simple to use. If you play at home alot and you also travel and play, than I suggest useing this micro cube for travel, and maybe a bigger amp for at home. This is a great little amp!!!!
