Versatile, powerful kick-drum performance!

The vertical design of the Roland KD-8 Kick Trigger Pad gives drummers a better feel compared to reverse-type kick triggers. It also reduces trembling so you get nothing but solid kick sounds from your electronic drum. Can even accommodate double bass pedals--perfect for drummers who want to create complex rhythms. (Pedal not included.)

  • Excellent Prouct by Roland for Great Price

As reviewed by Seamer Drummer on 8/8/2009

I bought my SPD S 6 months ago and I have been playing the kick patterns with my left hand on 7th pad and sometimes I stretch out my legs to play bass drum pattern in my acoustic kit till I bought this Awesome piece...!! I bought this product three weeks ago and "touchwood" no complaints so far and working great!! The good part is I can customize the patch in my SPD S and give various sound from the kick or any sound (even hi hat though it feels weird) and gets my job done!! I'm using my double bass pedals for my acoustic and using my old Yamaha single bass pedal for this one and it is really sounds awesome. I thought of Yamaha KP 65 for my SPDS since it is way cheaper but it was not available in the store when I'd been there so I bought this one but it didn't disappoint me. I strongly recommend this product!! 5 piece acoustic kit, enough cymbals, double bass pedals, SPDS and now this one for my SPD S...!! I dont know what else I would need anymore!!

  • takes a licking but keeps on triggering

As reviewed by Jason Hanson on 12/6/2010

I almost gave it 3 stars because the amount of wear the rubber pad shows after only a month and a half of use is inexcusable. Whether the beater is wood, plastic, felt, or a fricken cotton ball (and I've used all but the fricken cotton ball) the beater will chew away the rubber pad. The other thing is that the rubber pad where the beater hits is separating from the trigger on the inside. The amazing thing is that it keeps on triggering. I expected it to crap out on me a while ago (3 months now) and it hasn't. I didn't want to take any chances on this happening though, so Roland has agreed to repair or replace the unit after pro-coverage and I explained my frustrations. (BTW pro-coverage has been very helpful in this regard.) All that aside, I think 4 stars is fair because despite the wear and despite the rubber-trigger separation, it works well. I don't know why some drummers complain about the KD-8 not being able to handle a double pedal. I've used a double on it since day 1 and it has responded to it perfectly even before I messed with sensitivity or volume. I usually use an iron cobra double, so maybe the beaters sit closer together than on other double pedals, but even on my generic pedal, the trigger has no problem picking both beaters up. At $150, it's a good product (got mine with the TD-4).

  • Great for the price and the purpose

As reviewed by ArzachelOcculta on 9/26/2006

I bought my KD-8 a few months ago and am very happy with it. I use a DM5, so the setup was fairly painless. I have used it exclusively since then and have no complaints. I have taken it with me to play live a few times with no ill effects, either. The appeal is the price, obviously, but the quality had me surprised. I think this pad is very good for everyday use for the normal drummer. It accomodated my double pedal with no problems, not even for triggering. The feel is responsive, and obtaining/maintaining speed in rolls is no issue. I wouldn't tour with it, but I would be more than willing to buy another of these pads.
