You get a lot of keyboard for the money.
It has a great selection of sounds, good keys with decent velocity sensors without being heavy, nice semi-analog knob adjustments like a real synth, and the PC midi editor makes it a lot easier to get your complete songs over to the keyboard.
The quality of most of the sounds is also impressively good.
However, nothing is perfect. Most of the instruments available are lead, which for Roland synths means they're NOT polyphonic. Perhaps 1/3 will work with polyphony.
It's also tedious to scroll through hundreds of instruments to get the one you want - especially when what you did was change the style, and it changed the instruments for you too. A "last" button would have been nice.
And I don't particularly like the bragging ads that the display shows if you stop playing for a few minutes. Good for the showroom, not for the buyer.
And, the "world" styles in the 2.0 software is mislabeled. By "world" here, they mean Latino. Just Latino. Nothing world about it at all. If you want 200 different Latino styles, this is the keyboard for you. However, if you thought it would improve say, Nordic or African or Asian tunings and rhythms, you're in for a disappointment.
As for tuning, yes, you can tune it, but only by percentages, not by frequency. And you can't store/recall tunings, which makes it pretty useless. I had hoped to be able to accompany my just intonation D flute, but that's a no go.
Midi playback is also weird - if sending midi data from your sequencer or computer to the keyboard, the assigned IR instrument will change to a GM instrument. Which makes it interesting when your hand gets near the IR sensor and a trumpet blasts.
But all in all, this is a very playable keyboard. I just wish I could flash it to 1.0 software to get rid of all the Latino sounds and styles that only clutter up and make it harder to find other stuff.
But yeah, would buy again, and will recommend.
It sure beats the cheaper BK-8 and Juno-Di, and for a solo artist who wants backing or songwriter who wants to record and edit songs I'd choose this over the similarly priced Juno-Gi. (For band usage, I'd probably choose the Gi if I couldn't afford a Jupiter.)
Again, it's a lot of keyboard for the money, and very playable.
this keyboard is awesome!i got this from samash they gave me 25% discount and i didn't expect that this keyboard could play any kind of music theres alot of choices of stylejust like the other expensive work station keyboard and the sound it so professional, even though its 61 keys but this is not a big issue for me the important is the sound and it is user friendly. i will recomend this keyboard to anyone who keeps lookin for a right keyboard this is it, i use it for church with my as100d marshall acoustic amp and it sound great. buy this...
