Featuring the same authentic piano sound and stylish body as Roland's flagship FP-7, the FP-4 is a more affordable and streamlined version. It sounds and feels like a real piano, and offers modern features that add musical versatility and enjoyment.
The FP-4 is true to Roland's quality of sound; it has some nice piano voices and great organ voices. I'm traditionally an acoustic piano player so this was a good compromise. Transposing and layering the sounds are easy to do. When playing on stage in lights or in a darker setting, the function keys have red lights that make the display easy to see and change while performing; not so with others I've tried. I'd compare this to the Korg SP500, whose key reaction feels better to me than the Roland FP-4, but it's sound is not as good. I'm trying out the Roland RD-300 next as it's supposed to be comparable to the other two in price and features.
