  • SC02 V-Drum Soft Case Well Thought Out

As reviewed by John E (JED) Dennis on 6/12/2011

I recently purchased a second-hand Roland TD-6 V-Drumset. These drums are excellent. Directly I realized I would need some sort of bag system to move the set should I wish to take it out of my apartment to gig or just put it away for storage. I considered all sorts of travel duffel type bags with foam padding (I am very handy with fabricating and improvising)I could install myself. But then I considered looking at what Roland had to offer. At first this case set seemed a bit expensive until I shopped around studying the alternatives. I found a slightly discounted used Roland bag/case set from Guitar Center's used online listing and settled. The costs of putting together my own version wound up being not too different from just letting Roland do it. These bags are well-thought out and very sensibly designed to protect as well as transport all the V-Drum components. I suppose they might not hold-up(for long)to roady rough road use but for regular gigging and storage purposes these should do well. The main(of two)bag's padding and system of adjustable padded dividers is great with ample space for everything. The materials used vary but seem to be ballistic nylon/polyester and sometimes a rubberized water-proofed polyester fabric. The second bag is very simple and intended for carrying the tube frame members. It's not particularly robust but it is large. No padding but a fabric wrap is included to isolate some of the frame from other pieces (to avoid marring or scratching). I put my throne in there as well. The main bag is large and thickly padded with a plush velour interior. The covered foam dividers are velcro-ed into place according to your specific preferences although the set comes with a single instruction sheet advising how the bags ought to be packed. I am well pleased with this investment and expect you will be too!
