The rogue Ukulele Starter Pack is just that; a simplistic starter pack for those of you pursuing interest in the varied sounds of ukuleles. I received my order recently and I don't have any complaints. The uke is very lightweight and, after some practice with hand positioning, very comfortable. The complaints of slippage and tuners not holding are mistakes any beginner will make with any stringed instrument. Simply stretch you strings a bit when you receive it. As I always instruct, hold at the nut with one hand and stretch each string out. Simply tune your uke, and stretch again. After playing for a day and stretching everything will hold just fine. You may have to tighten your friction tuners a corner turn or so, which is also to be expected of any new friction tuners. Overall I give this kit 5 stars. It's very affordable and you will get exactly what you pay for if you handle basic procedures to get started. I wish you all the best and I hope you enjoy your Uke as much as I do!

Total disappointment. Period. It was a complete mistake to ignore customer's reviews. If you ever think on buying this ukulele because of its low price, think twice, it is not worth it. I got it as a Christmas present from my dad and, just as I was tuning it for the first time, one of the strings blew off taking the whole bridge off with it. Cheaply made, and low quality. No wonder it broke! The bridge was to small to hold the weight of the strings and it was glued on (not even screwed in) with d smallest amount of glue possible. Right now it is bring fixed and even the expert is completely puzzled on how many designing errors it has. The repair is going to cost me half of what I got it for. Christmas dream? SHATTERED.

Rogue Ukelele

By Jim Bowers

from Rogers, AR.

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

I purchased this for my grandson for Christmas while it was on sale. It is okay as a starter instrument for a child, but serious musicians should look for one that is better quality. It is hard to keep it in tune, and requires keeping a screwdriver with it to tighten the tuners.

GOOD DEAL

By Gerald

from Kissimmee FL

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

I purchased this kit, a bit concerned because of the reviews. I am new to the uke and personally I found this an awesome value for the money. I spent $15 for new Aquila nylgut strings to be put on it, and it plays real sweet. I think it is a great value for someone who is new to the uke, and a great instrument to learn on (especially chords etc).

Waste of Time and Money

By Brandon Pedersen

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

I am not a fan of this ukulele. I am new to playing this instrument but even for me it's just not good enough. The tuning is a joke. It will not stay in tune for more than the first strum. Even when it is in tune, it doesn't sound great. The frets are scratchy. It's almost like they weren't sanded down at all. Overall, it is a waste of money. I have read reviews saying that it's good for the money, but that is false. Please do not buy this uke even if you have never played any instrument.

Rogue - yes, Diamond Head - don't bother

By Cathy

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

In the last few months, I have purchased several ukuleles for gifts. The Rogue starter set is the one I would choose for anyone just learning the ukulele. It has reasonable tone and strings for a beginning player (I have read other reviews that upgraded strings and had good results - I did not go to that extent). We had to tighten the tuning pegs slightly to get them to hold but that is easy. It is made out of real wood and is attractive. I also purchased a Diamond Head ukulele and that is a piece of junk that I would not recommend and have considered returning. It has very poor tone and the strings stretch out of tune as you play them (meaning that when you press on the fretboard, it stretches the string) - both of which might improve with a better set of strings. It is made out of something that might be a wood product, but it is not really attractive per say - it looks as cheap as it was. I have to say, in all of my shopping, price was the primary driver due to the nature of the recipients (a three year old and a 90 year old that won't know or hear the difference.) The Rogue set comes with pitch pipe which is helpful for beginners who are unaccustomed to the tuning of a ukulele. I am a ukulele player (many moons ago as a kid) and my experience was on a real Koa wood uke from Hawaii (my Dad's) so I have an idea of what a good uke should be. For myself, I will look for a concert size uke in some of our local pawn shops so I can actually play it before purchasing. I have to say, my online orders from the Guitar Center arrive so quickly it is almost surprising!

You are getting what you pay for...

By David Slankard

from Hollywood, CA

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

I purchased this ukulele as a gift for my 3 year old nephew. It was a better choice size-wise than say a 3/4 scale guitar. I don't expect him to learn to play or care if the ukulele is out of tune. He's going to love it and can beat the heck out of it for all I care. If you are wanting to learn ukulele don't expect a $29.99 instrument to stay in tune. Spend a little more and get yourself something halfway descent.

A toy not a musical instrument

Comments about Rogue Ukulele Starter Pack:

I bought a few of these for my music classroom for our musicianship unit and was completely disappointed. The tuning pegs slip immediately while trying to tune any of the strings. I ordered them online, but returned them at a Guitar Center store and when I showed the employees, they were almost laughing at how little function they had, other than being a toy. I do not recommend.

Bad product. I bought a Rogue mandolin as well and it is pretty good, but the Rogue ukulele is just not an instrument, just a toy. I returned it and upgraded for a decent instrument.
