I really wanted to learn guitar, so I bought this one, despite the reviews of the tuning issues. I keep it in a snug guitar bag, and even then it's been in perfect tune since the first time I tuned it. I love how rich the sound is, and the 7/8 size is perfect for my smaller hands and frame. I think the color is amazing too. The design and the colors just add to the beauty of this guitar. So far, I'm overwhelmingly happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who wants to learn or who just wants a great little guitar!

I'm not complaining really, overall nice build and finish! honest observations and criticisms: surprise.. the fretboard is DEAD FLAT, means ease and speed for the manufacturing, doesnt need fret levelling and re-crowning is understandable, theres very little to go wrong, less likely to "fret out" (aka BUZZZZ..), keeps price low too. same for its lack of dots on the fretboard, not a problem. not gonna subtract points for this stuff. the bridge could be slightly lower, and the nut quite a bit lower, to be better playable, instead of arriving as a fingertip torture device. easy enough for someone to do who knows how BUT, someone who doesnt know may never want to pick up a guitar again. (minus two points!) dont get me wrong, I play mostly electrics but I'm not spoiled or "tender fingered" when it gets to acoustics. this guitar wasnt ready and willing to be played. after an action-job, (is removing the bridge and nut to grind the backsides down to put the strings closer to the fretboard. you have to know how, and how much to remove!) ...the FLAT fretboard is decently playable, good sound projection as well. not knocking this guitar's overall quality for its price, but its string height is a major detail -Rogue- needs to address for their little starter guitars, for everyones sake! this is actually a pretty nice guitar for fast-cheap mass produced, and I really dont regret the purchase at all, but I also stand by my criticism of its action as gotten. it is what it is.. if the action was right as received, It'd got 5 stars with considerations given for its very low price. PS: giving a guitar an action job can have it misbehaving with different guage strings. acoustic guitars do need SOME height to not buzz-out when strumming hard as well. what may sound like a simple meat grinding job, is actually tedious with strings off-on re-tunings etc. it can take 1-2 hours of time, OR the factory can make some alterations to plant a couple shorter bits of plastic! about .040 from the bridge and .070 at the nut, is a lot. GuitarCenter, dont post this if it hurts but dont NOT tell Rogue about it either hey.. if nasty stiff action hurts peoples fingers TOO MUCH, future sales flush down the... this is a "Starter Guitar", should be friendlier!

Shockingly Good

By Donald DeWitt

from Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great guitar for learning on, and also great for an experienced player. It is just as good as a lot of the slightly more expensive guitars out there. I was afraid it would be a bad buy because of the price, but I was shocked at the quality of the guitar that I received.

Great Inexpensive Guitar

By Wayne Kirby

from Blackburn, MO

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I bought one of these for my 12 year old daughter. Looked at several 3/4 scale guitars that cost 3x the money & wasn't as impressed with the sound as much as I am with this one. It does have a flat fretboard which doesn't make it as fast as a "regular" fretboard, but for a starter fast really isn't a huge concern. I was really amazed how well this guitar holds tuning and that the intonation is actually in. Guitar is fairly well built and the hardware is good, but the whole thing is a little rough around the edges. Not to the extent that you're going to get a splinter trying to play it, but some little things, like some parts could have been sanded a little better. That may just be my opinion due to playing for 28 years and working on & building guitars for 14 of them. All in all I would have to say for the money it is a great buy. Stays tuned, good intonation, action is decent, very playable, and sound is supprisingly good. I would recommend this guitar, just keep in mind that a 7/8 scale is just slightly smaller than a full size (1/8 smaller to exact) and my still be a little big for smaller players.

Great guitar for the $$$

By Arlene Lawrence

from Crossville, TN

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

These guitars were recommended to me by a customer service rep, when the Dean Playmate 3/4 were out of stock until after Christmas. I was a little concerned about going up to a 7/8 size as the gifts were for my 5 year old twins. The guitars are considerably larger and more difficult for them to handle, but they have so much better sound than the smaller ones, and will be much nicer for them, when they do learn how to play them. I've already decided to replace the Dean Playmates purchased for my other set of twins when they learn how to play theirs.

Good for a kids starter...

By William Weems

from Plummer, Idaho

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

Bought this for my youngest grandson. I'm putting his older brother through guitar lessons, and he was feeling left out. He's only 10 and small, so this smaller scale of guitar works out well for him. If he maintains an interest, I'll get him a higher quality guitar in a year or two. But for now this one fits the bill and the blue starburst finish looks just like grampa's acoustic! I gave this 4 stars as it's a low cost no frills guitar, but is still good enough for him to strum along with me and his older brother. It's a good low cost investment to see if the kid will keep his interest. If not, you're not out of a larger investment. Good job Guitar Center!

Great Starter Guitar

By Jacob

from Beaver Dam, WI

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar as my first one just to learn some basics on. It really is a good guitar for beginners and is very well priced. It's especially well-priced if you aren't confident you'll love playing guitar because you won't be out a lot of money. The size of the guitar is nice for younger/smaller people or just for beginners. Having the smaller body gives you an opportunity to learn with more physical ease. For me, transitioning from this guitar to a full-size was an easy process, so I don't think the size should turn people away. As for the sound, I never experienced any poor sounds. When I played it right, it sounded right. As for the structure, I didn't have any design flaws or issues with it falling apart. It looks and feels great. It's fairly light weight (another good aspect for first-time players/children). I would recommend this to anyone looking to begin learning guitar, children, or anyone looking for a simple acoustic guitar.

My first acoustic guitar

By Kylie Humble

from Houston, TX

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

Actually my first guitar ever. I'm not a guitar expert, but you can't go wrong with this guitar and its low price. The sound is decent; my dad was playing Twist and Shout on it and I only heard two instances of minor buzzing. As mentioned in the description, it suits people with small body frames like me. In addition, I was surprised at how quick the delivery was. Can't wait to become a pro and play my favorite songs!

    Nice guitar for the money

    By Peter

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

My wife bought a guitar at Cracker Barrel for about $20 or $25. (Cracker Barrel??). It was a piece of junk to say the least. Sadly she tried to play it and I had to discard it -lest she be discouraged by it. So I bought her a Rogue guitar thinking it was better than what she had. And it was, I am glad to report. I did change the first three strings though to nylon to make it a little easier on her fingers. It went out of tune rather quickly. But after several weeks of properly stretching, the strings are surprisingly stable and the guitar plays well and sounds pretty good. This is no Martin guitar, but for the money I am pleasantly surprised. Had it for at least a half a year with no issues. Personally I think the protection plan is a waste of $. But, that's just me... Bottom line... Great beginner guitar.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I decided to purchase this guitar to learn to play. I did not want to spend a lot of money because I am a senior and was not sure if I could do so successfully before giving up. When I mentioned my purchase "learned guitar players" I was told it was "junk". I later took it to several guitar stores and they were all surprised with how well it played (after a few adjustments). They were blown away with the price and all confirmed that for the money, it was a great deal! I love playing so far (3 weeks) and know I will up grade one day but for now, this little guitar is great.

This seems like a decent guitar at first: Good sound, holds tuning, etc. But the tension from the strings pulled the neck off of the body after about 4 months. Make sure if you gamble on trying this guitar that you buy the replacement plan!

My son purchased this guitar back in February and he was very eager to start taking classes. He just started classes in July and just started using the guitar and come to find out the guitar has a warped neck and bridge is damaged. His instructor mentioned the warped neck but it wasn't untl I took in the guitar to Guitar Center to upgrade that their rep mentioned the bridge. This was very disappointing to my son. Guitar Center should employ more experienced reps who would have noticed the damage when they unpackaged the guitar and tuned it for him that it was defective. Guitar Center did not offer any resolution.

I bought this guitar because I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case I didn't have time to practice. Right out of the box-tuning I busted a string so off to the guitar store I went to replace with strings a bit easier for beginners. Can't say a whole lot because I am a beginner and not a lot of experience. I am of smaller stature at 5'3" and I do feel a bit of a stretch playing some chords but I think I can adjust well. I do have to tune the guitar every so many days but it's usually just one string that's out of tune.

I purchased it for my 11 year old granddaughter. The guitar was awesome. I loved the rich red color. She was thrilled. She needs to have it tuned and has someone in the music department at her school who will help her with that. The price as good for a beginner who wants to see if this is an instrument for her.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:

I have never attempted to learn a musical instrument before, but took a guitar class on a whim and bought this for practice and because I decided it was a skill that I would like to take further. It was much better than I expected for the price, but it definitely plays and feels like a lower end guitar. It looks nice and the body sustains the sound nicely (even though the face of the guitar isn't real wood). It is very comfortable to hold and does not take up much space and sounds all right. My main complaint is the strings and the action on the guitar. It has incredibly large gauge, hard strings that when coupled with high action make some chords almost impossible to fret without a lot of buzzing interference and major finger pain (I'm not really sure how children are managing to play this guitar). I definitely believe this guitar could benefit from a string change (also, these high tension strings are probably a little much for a guitar of this build anyhow, neck seems a little bent). As for the tuning, it needs it a lot, but I also am not storing it in a case and have only had it a few weeks, so I can't really say how much is due to that. The sound is a little twangy and flat, but overall it feels like a "real" guitar for the price.

when i first wanted to get into guitar all i had was a few dollars so i bought the cheapest guitar on the website.i thought it was going to be a cheap guitar that sounded bad ,but that was all the money i had so i ordered it online(which took 2 months to get to me).when i got it there was a strong smell of paint that eventually dissipated, after tuning the strings they looked and felt really bad and kept untuning .after a few day the strings where stretched out from all the tuning and finally felt right.the action was really low ,about the width of a penny .i've had this guitar 6 months now and it plays exactly the same, plays really well,no fret buzz, and there is no sign of the neck breaking or paint chipping if that's what your worried about.i changed the strings a few days ago and it sounds 2 times better,i would even compare it to the yamaha f335 i played at guitar center ,or the Mitchell md100.if your looking to start playing this would be one of the top guitars to pick from.Great buy
