Please disregard the other reviews, for this mando rocks! The tuners are rock solid as is the bridge. Intonation can be adjusted easily with the screws on the bridge. Great strap holder as well. I was and still are amazed at how well it holds its tune. The sound is incredible too! For the price you cannot go wrong! If by some reason it turns up defective - simply send it back free of charge. Although I doubt that will happen considering at how well it is packaged. Mando was wrapped in soft packing paper, placed in a tight case box and that was placed in a bigger shipping box with plenty of packing paper. Guitar center and Rogue hit the ball out of the park on this one! I ordered over the phone from my local store, their customer service was awesome! They even called me after I got it to make sure everything was cool. Thanks Shane!

For 60 bucks you can't expect to get the best instrument made. but I will say this was probably the best 60 bucks I've spent!! I read a lot of online reviews that said that the rogue was very low quality and intonation was impossible to set, and that the string don't stay in tune. That must be untrue unless I got lucky. I taught myself to set intonation, which was way easier than I anticipated. I did switch out the stock strings for some better light strings. Sounds great! looks great!! This mando will definitely quench your thirst to learn the mandolin!

Mandolin

By David Jarrell

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

Had some flaws. Bridge was glued so could not set intonation. However wasn't expecting much for what I paid for it. Sounds pretty good. Doesn't look to bad. Got it to learn how to play it. More of a guitar player.

Very nice for the price!!

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

I was a little skepticle due to the low price and the other reviews on this website, so I did some research on the internet and other people thought it is a decent instrument for the price. They were right. This mandolin is beautiful, the craftsmanship is excellent. One of the strings broke right away so I bought some Martin blue-grass strings, and this thing realy sounds great! It came out of the box set up pretty close, it came with instructions, so if you have an electronic tuner it is super simple to get this near perfect. I never owned or even held one of these before, and I am a novice guitar player, therefor I didn't want to spend a lot of money. If you are just wanting to learn the mandolin or want a second one to take on trips or need a gift idea, I recommend this. I have only had it a couple days and I realy am very impressed with it so far.

Great instrument, especially for beginners

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

I am a complete novice at mandolin, but I have always wanted to learn. So, when I saw that this Rogue was on sale, I jumped at it. It arrived setup and with just a few adjustments of the bridge and a tuning, I was up and running. It has a great tone, and really puts out the volume. The finish is great, and even though the neck is gloss lacquered, it doesn't seem to effect the playability. There was a little glue squeezed out on a couple of the higher frets, but that is about the only "con" I have with this instrument. I would highly recommend this.

A Beginner

By Roger Napier

from Largo,Fl

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

The mandolin came on time. Packing was good. Condition was perfect. No imperfections. It was already set up. The only thing I had to do was tune it. The keys were great, it tuned very easely. I did not have to retune it each time I picked it up to play. I would definately recommend it for a beginner.

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

The instructions that come with the mandolin are written as if you are installing the strings for the first time. Disregard these instructions as the mandolin comes with the strings already on. Here is the confusion.
The mandolin was out of tune on the 12th fret. Raising or lowering the bridge will not help. The instructions should tell you that the bridge is moveable, fore and aft. "Lay the bridge down" is what?, confusing. The strings hold the bridge in place. It just slides wherever you put it. When positioned correctly, the pitch is perfect at the 12th fret. I highly recommend this instrument for starters. I feel the fret board is too narrow for me and down the road I may buy a mandolin with a wider fret board. For now, this mandolin is fun to play and sounds great.

Not sure why this Mandolin is rated so highly..

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

I bought this mandolin as a beginner. It succeeded in sparking my interest, although, I would never recommend purchasing it. After 2 months of playing, it started to cave in and completely lowered the left side of the instrument (G and D strings), which caused the G string to buzz violently when certain notes were played. More then that, the overall action does not sound well on this instrument. If you are seriously considering playing the mandolin, my recommendation would be to spend the extra 100-200$ on a better mandolin, I wish I would have.

    Amazed.....happily so !

    By Mark Gelinas

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

I took advantage of the recent sale to stock up on musical gifts for my out-of-state family's xmas. Today I received several well-packed boxes containing a wide assortment of wind, percussion, and stringed instruments along with a tuner, picks, and stocking stuffers that'll need wrapping, re-boxing, etc for shipment. As per usual I inspected each item carefully (all was well) and was impressed with this mandolin- so much so that I had to unpack it and tune it up to see how it sounds. NOW I'm stuck with having to order another one to replace it because I'm keeping it for myself! I'll have to pay a little more for it now because the sale is over, but it'll still be a great bargain. The entire order was ridiculously low-priced (saved hundreds) yet the quality seems to be top-notch all the way around. Will definitely ABSOLUTELY buy from Guitar Center again (after the additional mandolin purchase)and widely recommend the store! 5+ stars! ...now I've gotta learn to play this thing.....

Using for learning to play. I love the sound this instrument makes. I am very disappointed that after 1 month a part is cracked and will break. I will be contacting this seller and hope they will help fix it. A well-made product shouldn't have had this issue. I hope Guitar Center makes it right by me.

Bought this as a gift for my fiance. He's an experienced guitar player who wanted to learn the mandolin. This mando is great for beginners to learn on, though I don't know how great it'd be for a professional. This is perfect for him to have fun playing around the house. The silver cover over the string does buzz sometimes, but it's easy to take off.

        By Everett Hasper

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

Hey, what a great deal for someone starting the mandolin or a strings player wanting something to fool around on. Is it an instrument for recording or gigging well not really but as always ya git what ya pay for. IMO this is a great value for the price. I received mine a couple weeks ago and have NO problems with it right out of the box, the finish, overall condition are fine and the intonation actually isn't bad BUT as others have said the "factory" strings aren't so hot so order a set of your choice with the instrument and change em out. I play guitar, tenor and baritone uke and this is a great addition to the family.

Comments about Rogue RM-100A A-Style Mandolin:

I was listening to "Old and In The Way" and wanted a Mandolin really badly. This Mandolin is not bad at all. It does what you want a Mandolin to do if you are a guitar player who occasionally plays the Mandolin.

I have it tuned to E-A-D-G so you don't really need to relearn any chords if you are planning on just strumming.

This thing is built to last. It's survived: three moves over 300 miles, 1 month in storage, never having a case for three years, playing it frequently, no stand, it just hangs on my wall.

I don't know what a "Great Sounding Mandolin" sounds like the way I do a guitar, but to me, this thing is worth more than $50.

Only Negatives are: The Tailpiece is held on by a magnet & it fell off every time I picked it up. Superglue fixed that issue.

It is much nicer than I expected and I look forward to having lots of fun with it. It did need new strings, but I always put new strings on a new instrument anyway so that was okay.
