Overview

A marvel for its price, the traditional dreadnought design makes for one very playable guitar with a great, full tone. Perfect for strumming or fingerpicking any style of music, it's no wonder this guitar has been so highly rated by our customers. Features a genuine spruce top, die-cast tuning machines, 25-1/2" scale nato neck, and bound rosewood fretboard. It's easy to tune and stays that way. Rich, resonant sound and excellent projection and intonation make this a first guitar to be proud of. It's also great for camping or as a second guitar. Each guitar ships with genuine Martin strings for a quality sound right out of the box.

I have been playing guitar for 34 years. I have quality expensive guitars. I'm giving this 5 stars, because as an instrument, and at this price, my expectations were not very high at all---and I was pleasantly surprised.
I expected a cheap, flimsy, poorly made "starter" instrument...but this didn't fit that category in my opinion. It is well built...and with new strings and a proper set-up, plays and sounds just as good (or better) as more expensive instruments.
I got the Natural guitar, and it is beautiful.
Was looking for an inexpensive guitar that I wouldn't worry about taking in a canoe, camping, and rugged outdoor activities. After removing the "tinny" steel Martin strings, oiling the fretboard, filing sharp edges on all the frets, filing the nut grooves on strings 3 through 6 (to seat into the nut fully), and restringing it with quality Phosphor Bronze strings, I'm not sure I wanna let this guitar get beat up in the outdoors any more.
(String height, action, and neck bow was fine, and there was no 'buzz' or intonation problems, so no truss rod adjustment or bridge sanding was necessary on mine)
It showed up with no visible damage, or missed 'quality control' issues (I don't count the sharp fret edges on the guitar, because at this price they're NOT going to "roll" the edges like Fender, Gibson, Taylor, etc...and filing the nut grooves was my choice based on eye appeal...there was nothing tonally or mechanically wrong with the nut as it was).
It is the less expensive, less resonant woods used to make this instrument that make it so affordable NOT the construction. Even as an experienced player, I wouldn't be afraid to recommend this to ANYONE looking to play. If you want to get the best out of it be prepared to do a proper set-up, or know someone that can do it for you (if you wanna get the best out of it)....because after I set this thing up to MY liking, it is now my most played guitar out of the ten I own.

This is unique for a beginner who may have a fly by night interest in learning. The action is high off the fret board and blows out of tune in a controlled environment. Consequently, it will help a beginner regarding fingering and tuning. The tone does not ring to a warm sound. I strung it with Martin mediums and it still sounds like a tin, thin picking guitar. On that note it does serve as a great learning instrument. If you play on this and move up to a better quality guitar you will be set for success. Bottom line is the guitar can not hold a simple E tuning. The sound is cheap and is almost a chore to play. I would recommend stepping up to a better guitar like a beginner factory built Yamaha...they sit around the same price. I bought a cheap Yamaha for my wife and she can hand pick it with ease.

Comments about Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

A surprisingly good starter guitar for the money. The neck is straight and well shaped making it comfortable. While other reviewers found the action (string height) to be too high, the action on mine is low and consistent across all frets making it very easy to play. It tunes easily. The sound is weak, but good enough for learning on. I bought this as a first guitar for my girlfriend. That it comes in pink was a huge bonus.

Comments about Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this for my son to begin guitar lessons. Blue is his favorite color and I was lucky enough to get one of the last few in this color before Christmas. His first words when he opened it, "It's a real guitar... It's big and it BLUE!" His dad is a guitar player and said the stings were not great quality but that was an easy fix. Overall I don't think I could have done any better, the guitar sounds great and will be something he can play for many years to come.

Great sound at a low cost

          By Pedro

          from IL

Comments about Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The guitar is perfect for a low budget guitarist who needs a decent acoustic. Like the others said, it does have a high action which can be adjusted but other than the guitar sounds perfect. If you know someone who has experience in fixing and fine tuning guitars this acoustic can become as good as any $120 dollar acoustics. But don't expect it to be the most magnificent sounding acoustic out there. For what it is worth, the acoustic is pretty inexpensive as compared to others.

This is a good guitar that you keep around for grand kids or other people who see a guitar and automaticly pick it up and play with rock star. Saves wear and tear on the expensive ones.
