I bought this as my first 5 string bass just to see if I would like a 5'er. I would recommend to anyone wanting to purchase their first 5 string, save for an Ibanez, Squier, Schector, or anything other than a Rogue. Now I'm not one to normally bash on entry level instruments, but I have made this bass guitar the exception to my rule. Bad set up, muddy pickups, funky strings, etc, etc, etc. By the time you get a decent set up done, buy better strings, replace the pups, and doing other mods, you could have bought a better quality instrument. Cons: all of it. Pros: GC's return policy. Thanks for taking it back GC. I'm saving for a Fender.

Good but Not the Best

By Daniel Torres

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

This was my first 5 string bass I ever bought. When I bought this I was excited to test it out and when I did it sounded Amazing! The board feels smooth the color looks nice and for the low price it's unbelievable. When I got mine, I started to see some defects on it. The output jack in it was loose and the top part was chipped. I tried fixing the loose output jack and tightened it too but it would always come loose again. The chipped part can't be repaired which was sad the the tops over the Tuning machines which I had the same problem with my old Bass. The strings that came with it are ok but overtime loose their tone and constant tuning is needed. If I were you Check the bass for defects.

Can't beat the price

By Kyle Paape

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for a couple years now and was looking to upgrade to a 5 string. I already own a Dean Zone XM and I have also assembled my own from a kit so I wasn't worried about having to try to work on an imperfection. To my surprise, there isn't anything wrong with it. The only bad thing I could mention is the fact that the neck is bare... I mean just a well sanded neck without finish so I ended up waxing it - simple fix. That aside, it is a beautiful bass and you can't beat the price considering it has 2 pickups and a tone and volume knob for each. Only reason I would recommend dishing out extra money is if you're in a band and will be using it for shows, then I recommend trying it before buying.

Exactly What I Expected

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

As this being my second brand new bass, i love it. The jazz pickups make this thing sound great even with the low string. This bass came with nearly perfect intonation too! Although, the low B string is hard to hear without being plugged in ( because it is cheap wood of course) but plugged in, it's a beast. And mine did come with a cosmetic problem at the headstock from shipping, but nothing to end it for me! Also!! The strings it comes with.. Let's just say I haven't changed them in 4 months and they're still nearly perfect. Nothing on this bass other than I need more since i'm a performing player makes me hate it. I love this thing and don't intend to sell it or get rid of it ever. so... buy it.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I was looking for a white 5 string bass that is not too heavy. This one is not as heavy as other basses i've got. White seems to go with any color outfit i wear on stage. I have a blue Cort Curbow 5 string that i like except that it's blue. I wanted a white 5 string curbow - too bad, not available. So, for the price, this one is perfect.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

Now, I'm no bassist. I'm a flautist, and the bass was for my boyfriend. From what I've heard him play, it creates such a deep, rich sound. It's also pretty to look at and has a solid hold. Aesthetically and quality-wise, I most definitely recommend this bass to others.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass in metallic blue several months ago with the intention of transforming it into a 10-string bass, five pairs of strings each tuned in octaves. I had to get a new bridge and cut new string grooves in the barrels. I had a new nut professionally cut. I put a set of D'Addario strings for an 8-string bass plus a new .130 B-string and a .050 for the octave B string. I re-did the head stock, by filling the original tuner hoes and re-drilling ten new ones. I also painted the headstock to match the body and put a squiggly metallic blue stripe down the back of the neck. The end result is astonishing. This little bass has held up to the tension of the additional strings. The intonation and action remained low, and I even got rid of a bit of fret buzz on the fifth string. I don't recommend anyone trying this with a lot of prior experience, which I have. I didn't touch the pickups or the electronics, because it sounds great as is and has a very wide tonal range. I don't know about player's taste for the pickups, or maybe I just got an exceptionally good one, but the pickups on my Rogue are pretty darn strong. The bottom line is, this inexpensive bass is built like a tank even for a bolt-on design. I feel it is a very good value for the money.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I've have recently started to take my bass playing seriously and I bought a Squire 4 string to help me round out my bass playing skills. As my hunger for bass grew I knew the size of my bass would have to grow too, and I bought a "Ibanez Gio GSR105EX 5-String Bass". It was an okay bass but the pickup on that thing was terrible. Eventually the Ibanez broke down and I scrambled to find a way to fix it. I looked online and I saw that the Rogue 5 string would cost as much to fix my broken Ibanez. I made the decision to buy the Rogue after reading the positive reviews that were attached to the product. To this day I think that has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The bass sounded great as soon as I took it home. Granted it has a few defects, but I would still tell anyone whose looking to purchase their first 5 string "Rogue is the way to go!".
