This bass is absolutly incredible for the price and can not be beat.

The only Issue I had with mine was that the dots that go down the neck on the top of the bass were a little off and if you are a beginner this can be kind of tricky to fix. I had to paint over the dots and then paint my owns dots in the propper places. A little annoying, but well worth it.

I also recommend putting some round wound strings on it. Other then that you should be good to go. I have used this baby in practices all the way up to big shows so its a very good instrument for the price.

I understand that this is an inexpensive "instrument", however, the level of skill and time required to setup this instrument to a playable condition is unreasonable. Having (unfortunately) purchased this instrument, I found that:
1. The truss rod was adjusted so tightly that the neck had a severe back bow, which when relieved (truss rod loosened) left a warped fretboard.
2. The action is so high that I will need to shim the neck (Please note that this is not a simple task. It requires the removal of the neck, the selection of a correct shim height, which may take a couple of iterations). This modification is beyond the scope of a "typical" musician, and in the domain of a luthier.
3. The string ways in the nut are much too high and will have to be filed. Again this is in the domain of a luthier, not a musician. This should be done with purpose built files appropriate to the string sizes. Cut them too low, you buy a new nut and start over.
4. The output jack was loose (this is so minor that it did not influence my rating), but the screws that hold the jack plate were already pre-stripped! I expect that with this level of build quality, that will be the case with many of the screws and nuts.
5. The overall quality of the components, paint, and assembly were commensurate with the cost of the bass: cheap.
Conclusion: unless you are a luthier, or have the patience to learn some of the techniques of that profession, save up enough money to purchase a decent instrument. Otherwise, you are spending your money on expensive, and poorly constructed, firewood.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I played bass in high school and college in the 70's and hadn't played much until about 5 years ago when I reconnected with my musical side. My other basses are all fretted instruments. I wanted to try a fretless instrument and didn't want to spend a lot. I am impressed with how good this bass is for the money.

Based on what I had read,I ordered a nice set of tape-wounds to put on it. The pickups seem weak as I have to crank the volume up on the amp to get the same level as my other basses but it has a really nice sound. Playing it through a Fender Bronco 40w.

Rogue's craftmanship is literal garbage

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

The craftsmanship from Rogue is terrible. It's like no one checked the quality before shipping out. First (and last) fretless from Rogue and it was absolute trash, how could a company let such a horribly built guitar leave the shop? The fretboard looked as if someone tried to separate it from the neck wood with a screw driver , the buzzing was terrible, and flat sounding pickups. The only thing good on this bass were the strings. Save your money for a better made bass. Luckily Guitar Center let me return it and with that being said, GC shouldn't have sold it in the condition it was in.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I have been playing keyboards (organ, piano and synths) for over 25 years and I've just recently been getting into other rock instruments. Guitars, drums, and bass guitars. After playing on a standard bass, I thought I would like to try my hand at a fretless. Regarding my one con comment, the neck has a very plain finish. For the price, I don't expect a teflon gloss neck finish, but it is all but naked. The fret board itself is smooth and decent quality, but I will probably try something like a gun stock oil. Something that will dry and leave a bit more of a gloss on the neck.

Other than this minor complaint, I can easily recommend this on a value vs. performance scale. The electronics, and pickups seem more than decent. The action is very playable. The low E string that came on the bass was all but dead and worried me at first inspection. A new set of strings and all was fine. One other minor issue on the strings was the bridge. The new strings have a cloth/thread weave at the base of the loop. The weave was so thick, or maybe the feed thru hole in the bridge was too small, but I couldn't feed the low E string thru the bridge until I shaved off a large amount of the thread weave. I wouldn't call it a problem, or at least a problem that can't easily be fixed, but I don't have problem with my other basses or guitars.

If you're an experienced player this is probably not the instrument you want to play at a stadium concert venue. If you're interested at all about learning to play fretless but don't want to spend a lot of money, I would absolutely say give this one a try.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

Always wanted a frettless bass and figured this would be a good entry point. The bass felt good out of the box and had and attractive finish for a bass of that price. Unfortunately the first sound I hear after plugging the bass into my amp was an annoying grounding hum. Ended up sending the bass back because i didn't feel it was worth the $$ to get it fixed.

This is my first fretless bass. I've been playing for...well, a long time. I bought an inexpensive one because I know I won't use it much but wanted one for recording. I like the feel and the sound, but the action was too high and I had to re-set the bridge. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with my purchase.
