I play banjo, fiddle , and mandolin. I was looking to pick up the guitar. while looking on the site I ran across this combo. Thought at first it was a little too good to be true. I ordered it on a Monday evening, it arrived on Thursday. The packaging was fantastic. Opening the mandolin and guitar, I was very pleased with the looks. The black finish was flawless. After tuning the mandolin I found it was a little tin sounding...but swapping out the strings...it sounds great. Just a minor adjustment to the bridge and I was playing in a few minutes. The guitar was also impressive. The Martin strings were quickly tuned and settled in in a couple of hours with just a minor tweek here and there. Thank you for allowing me to learn the guitar and have a practice and backup mandolin for this fantastic price.

I was really excited to get this amazing deal, but the skeptic in me said the price was too good to be true. Upon receiving the instruments we realized they are PLASTIC. I don't know about you, but when I think stringed instruments I think abut lush, beautiful wood. The guitar is very light weight, the mandolin a little heavy for its size. The mandolin is a little awkward to hold as well. They sounded ok but look just what they are; cheap plastic instruments. Good for a beginner or someone who isn't too concerned about the feel of their weapon in their hands. If it wasn't a combo, we'd have kept the mandolin, aside from the metal piece popping off the base and not being able to get it to fit back properly. An OK product, but disappointing. We had no problems returning the products.

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I bought this package because I really wanted an acoustic guitar. I am used to playing electric, but I was very excited about the rich sounds of an acoustic. Although the guitar does provide a very warm sound, there are a lot of problems. I can physically feel that the guitar is cheaply made. It is nearly impossible to keep in tune, and I find that after maybe 10 minutes of playing that I have to retune. The strings are much higher than the fret board, which requires an enormous amount of effort required to push them down. Upon being pushed down, the strings buzz along other frets. It is not surprising considering the extremely low price of the package. I saw the mandolin as kind of a bonus to the package, and figured I could learn it just for fun. Unfortunately, with 8 strings instead of six, the mandolin truly was impossible to tune. I spent over an hour of frustration trying to tune the instrument, until finally a string snapped. Although this wasn't devastating to me, it was annoying how cheaply made the instrument was. I believe that buying two separate instruments from a name brand other than Rogue is a much better choice, however the price is much higher. After reading other reviews, it is possible that I just had a bad product: that being said, I am sure I won't buy any more Rogue products in the future.

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I wanted to order my grandson a guitar for his birthday. He will be going into high school and wants to take guitar. I found this offer and couldn't believe it! I have always wanted to learn to play the mandolin. And here is one, FREE! I have to say, both of these instruments far exceeded my expectations. They are absolutely beautiful!! AND...the store didn't have this offer in store, but they went online and ordered it for me on Monday and it was at my door on Wednesday! Awesome instruments and service. I will be a repeat customer! Thank you Guitar Center!!

      good but bubbled up plastic!

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

when I recieved the guitar and mandolin I was super excited but when I opened them from the box the pick guard had a sticker that said please remove from pick guard. After easily removing the sticker I found that under BOTH the guitar and mandolin had clear plastic that is bubbled up from air bubbles in the plastic and looks very very cheap! it's upsetting because its right on the front but not a big enough deal to go through the whole process of returning it..

      great guitar for the price

      By Tiffany Garrard

      from Flat Rock, AL

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I was very skeptical that this guitar could be a good guitar. I saw it on sale after Thanksgiving and hesitated and did some research on it. I decided after seeing reviews I would buy it and return it if I didn't like it. Well no worries there!! It is a great guitar! Now with that being said, it's not going to call up angels! It definitely doesn't have the rich tones of a solid wood guitar. But it sounds good without them. I don't care for the strings much, I'll be changing them soon. The action is great, and is very easily played. I'm very picky when it comes to the action. The mandolin is pretty but that's about all I can say for that because I've never held one or seen/heard one played in person. That was kinda the freebie in the deal to me. As far as the bubbled plastic (kinda funny), that is a layer of protective film you are supposed to peel it off along with the sticker that says "peel me off" lol. The guitar is beautiful!!! I would definitely recomend for a beginner guitar or for the reason I bought it, one I can carry back and forth here and there and not worry about banging it up.

      Oh wow! Amazing deal!

      By Mac Mann

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

Now, I am primarily a bass player mind you. But I started on guitar. Recently I have wanted to get back into guitar but I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a new guitar rig. So I figured I'd keep it acoustic for now. But as I was browsing this caught my eye instantly. I strictly bought these because you are getting two instruments for one. Now keep in mind that it is Rogue. Rogue is notorious for making cheap instruments. Sometimes in regards to quality not price. But I was truly blown away by this guitar. It executed any sound I could play with rather good quality. I'm not one to know how a good mandolin is supposed to sound but with both instruments with new strings, they pleased me much more. So if you just have a little money you want to burn, or you're looking to start either of these instruments, or this offer is just convenient for you, don't hesitate to buy this pack!

      Great Set

      By Tori Wilkin

      from Hurricane, Utah

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I was very excited when I came across this, was worried it was, "Too good to be true". But it's not! The only reason I put 4 stars instead of five is because the first set that came, the guitar had a gash on the side through the inner box. This was quickly and easily remedied when I called the customer service center the next day. They set me up with another order that they put two day air shipping on for free, and sent me shipping labels to send the first set back. The replacements are fantastic, I was able to get them tuned and playing within minutes.

      Great Deal on 2 Instruments!

      By Jonathan Fineout

      from Miami, Fl

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I received these beautifully made instruments as a gift, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and attention to detail of the finish, and how well they're made. I never played mandolin before, so I had to find some tuning tips and chords online, but I love the sound of this mandolin! It'll take some time to learn but I'm having a Great Time doing it. The guitar sounds wonderful and came almost ready to play, and is also nicely made. When I found out how much they both cost I was in shock. I tell my friends they cost a lot more but if they go to the website I'll be found out. Oh well. I'm very happy with my gift.

        great value

        By SARAH MORGAN

        from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I was in the market for an acoustic to learn on, and decided to go with this combo based on the reviews (and so my dad would have a mandolin to play when he visits). I got the sunburst guitar and black mandolin, and they are both beautiful. They also sound, surprisingly, great. The only bummer is that the guitar arrived damaged, and it seems to have been that way when shipped (the boxes it was shipped in were fine). The damage is just cosmetic (a pretty big knick on the bottom edge of the front of the body), but considering how cheap this was, I'd rather just keep it than deal with the hassle of returning. It adds character anyway. ;)

        Great for a beginner's guitar

        By Terranisha

        from New York, NY

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

I purchased this guitar pack with the excitement about the price (of course) and my excitement of finally playing a guitar again. Although the price is great, I was disappointed by the quality of the guitar. The neck was slightly nicked which made my G string muted when attempting to play a E major chord and there was always a constant buzzing. I returned it today for a full refund and the guy at the Guitar Center in Union Square, NYC said "yeah, we usually get these back; they're sold online so people think they're good guitars but they're more like toy guitars. Not really good if you wanna continue playing; okay for learning though." I agree. Even as a beginner, I could tell the difference between the quality of the guitar and it was not a good one. I gave it three stars because I did love the sunburst finish and it is still a good guitar if you can ignore the constant string buzzing.

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

These are amazing for the price! They ain't your local Kmart junk, they are real instruments with good construction and okay quality materials. Obviously you are not going to get super high quality instruments for the price, but they get the job done very well. I use them all the time at the local open mic and they sound as good as some of the more expensive instruments played there. Definitely buy these if you want a beginner guitar and mandolin to learn or practice with. These are great instruments!

          Great Deal!

          By James Daniel

          from Oak Ridge TN

Comments about Rogue Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin Pack:

First off, this is one of the best deals I've ever seen. Getting two instruments for this price is very hard to do. Especially when they are in New Condition. I wasn't a huge fan of receiving each item separately but understand why they wouldn't package them together. It was just hard to wait an extra day or so to get the next piece. I chose the "Sunburst black" option which gives me the Rogue Accustic guitar in a very nice Sunburst finish. The fretboard isn't the prettiest and looks like it already has a bit of wear and tear on it though this isn't exactly a "bad" quality as it looks like the guitar has already had a bit of love. The strings on both aren't my favorite but do work well enough and are keeping tune after about the third time I tuned up. I will most likely go in and get some extra strings and change them out in the next month or so out of personal preference. The black mandolin looks really amazing! The silver fastening pieces on it hold a nice shine and the finish holds a nice gloss even after I put my fingers all over it. Plus the tuning gears look really great.
