  • Hofner/Beatle stying only a beautiful extra...

As reviewed by KIDDjimi on 2/4/2011

I have had my Rogue bass for +/-3 years. After a standard tightening/ adjusting session, I played a gig with this honey right out-of-the-box. I spent the whole night in wonder of the light weight, style, and just plain ole' kick-butt bass sounds I plucked out of this baby.(no pun intended). The original reason I purchased the VB100 is that I was out of town with a Fender Jazz Bass that didn't stand the trip, and a Hofner that didn't make the trip. I went to the "local" music store, and there she was! I just tried her out of curiosity. This bass was light weight, looked great, and played/sounded wonderful. Only a few hundred dollars later I walked out with the bass, a case, some flatwound strings, and a few new cables. The rest is history. I added the strings, added a few touches, and went to work. I have played this baby ever since with no problems. My thanks for allowing me to let other players know this success story with a great little bass.

  • Horrible

As reviewed by Hukin Hukin on 12/17/2012

I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about... I received this bass in about a week and a half. The box was in good condition. I opened up the bass and it looked very good. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed a number of problems. The fretboard was practically caked in a black powder, which blackened my fingers as I played. I do understand that many new basses have this problem (to a considerably lesser extent, might I add), but this was ridiculous. The strings looked very old and dingy. They provided a horrible sound. Also, the pick guard and the little bit of plastic over the electronics were in bad condition. They were chipped, and the edges were rough and very grated, leading me to believe that there was no quality check. Now, the sound. I plugged this bass into my Fender Rumble amp. (I own both the 30 and the 150) The bass made a very low and extremely trebly, weak sound on both. I fiddled with the controls on the amp and the bass, but to no avail. In short,I do not recommend this bass at all. I may have gotten a defective model, but it was in such horrible condition that I went for another bass.
