Overview

The RØDE NT2-A Large-Capsule Studio Condenser Microphone is a professional, one-inch condenser microphone with variable pick-up patterns, high-pass filter, and pad.

3 - 3-position switches located on the mic body provide selection of figure 8, cardioid, or omni polar pick-up patterns; from a flat response to either 80Hz or 40Hz high-pass filter; and pad adjustments of 0dB, -5dB, or -10dB attenuation.

The heart of the NT2-A is the Australian-designed and manufactured Type HF1 dual-diaphragm capsule. The frequency and transient response of this new transducer has been voiced to complement today's modern recording techniques and yet still evoke the silky smooth character of the legendary microphones of the '50s and '60s. Includes a soft pouch and clip.

The RØDE NT2-A represents an uncommon technical achievement. Many mics today look similar, with 1" capsules, a mesh head, and a cylindrical body. It is only when you look a little deeper and listen carefully that the major differences become apparent. If there weren't differences, we would all buy $50.00 mics, and be very happy! Many microphones in the same category sell for thousands of dollars. The difference is that the costlier mics are made with the best parts and precision engineered. While these mics are superb, their smaller production volume makes them expensive. They're hand assembled with parts bought in small quantities

RØDE has changed the industry by pioneering high quality volume production, investing in more design and tooling using the very finest components and capsules. RØDE still offers the NT2-A at a price that would be impossible using older techniques and technologies.

Designed and manufactured at RØDE's new $10,000,000.00 facility in Sydney, the NT2-A incorporates the latest innovations in transducer design, coupled to RØDE's surface mount electronics, offering pure signal quality and the lowest noise levels of any microphones with the same features. RØDE is so proud of the NT2-A that they now offer a full 10-year parts And labor guarantee.

Requires phantom power.

very pleased

By Suren

good good mic. It is my first mic but it is not my first time recording, so i can tell a difference between a novice sound and a decent sound, and this mic is decent. I used appogee duet interface, with logic and recording acoustic flamenco guitar. The mic responds great to ups an downs of flamenco sound all in one song. very satisfied.

RDE NT2-A

By tjtminds

from orlando, fl

I just recently picked this microphone up. For the price, you absolutely can not beat it. RDE is a name you can always count on. Its switchable polar patterns really make an extremely versatile mic. I run it through a Tube pre when recording vocals and its very responsive and warm. Its great for guitar cabs and acoustic guitars as well. If you're considering picking up this mic, do it. Its a great addition to any collection and a great tool in any recording environment.

R0DE NT2-A

By DSDub

from Chula Vista, CA

This microphone easily beats the competition in features, sound and value. Switch from cardioid to omni to figure 8. The pad is very useful as well. I was so impressed by the low self noise of this mic - VERY quiet. I like it best on acoustic guitar, but this mic is really versatile. You can use it on vocals, guitar, piano, etc. Sounds great on omni with group vocals. This mic really should come with a shockmount though. Other than that, I can't say anything bad about it - add one of these to your setup...you won't be disappointed!

Best bang for your buck

By Misconduct2K

from San Diego, CA

This is by far the best sounding all-purpose microphone for the money. I have used many expensive microphones over the years, but this mic is just as good as any of those Neumann's or Blue's. This mic sounds great on male or female vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, group vocals...I've even used it as a drum overhead. The pickup pattern switch is VERY handy, as well as the filter and pad. Add this mic to your setup, you can't go wrong!

Swiss Army Knife of mics!

By Mike_in_NJ

from East Coast, USA

You simply cannot go wrong with this mic. It sounds excellent on just about everything I've put it on. Being able to change polar patterns on the mic itself is very handy. Rode has a real winner on its hands. You could easily spend twice the price and not find a better-sounding microphone. It's a no-brainer for me. I got several of 'em!

A Pleasant Suprise

By jwarnold

from Houston, TX

In my years of recording I have had the opportunity to experience many different microphones. I can remember the first vocals I ever recorded through an SM58, and I can remember the first time I ever heard someone sing through a Neumann. Knowing the vast range of microphones in existence I was intrigued when the Rode NT2-A began to receive awards and nominations from numerous organizations. Bearing all this in mind I went out to purchase this acclaimed microphone, and when I got it set up I was shocked. This microphone sounded great right out of the box; it needed little to no EQ. As far as features go it?s nice to have controls over patterns, pads, and LF roll offs right on the microphone. This microphone is a great value for all of the features and quality you receive. My only real complaint is that the microphone did not include a shock mount, which is a definite must.
