Although the body of the new NT1 closely resembles the NT1-A, the microphone has been completely redesigned from the ground up, with the only shared component being the mesh grille.
R˜DE' design engineers approached the NT1 as a marriage of innovation and tradition, starting with the capsule which is a completely new design. Codenamed the HF6, it is the perfect example of R˜DE' fusion of artistic design approaches and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, and features a sound signature reminiscent of the famous microphones of old while at the same time exhibiting extremely low noise.
It has been developed with a focus on detailed midrange response, coupled with silky smooth high frequencies, and warm, round, bass reproduction to make the NT1 an absolute standout in its class.
In another world-first for R˜DE, the transducer itself is suspended inside the microphone using Rycote' industry-leading Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level. The capsule is then married to high-grade electronics that have been designed to provide the lowest noise level of any studio microphone available. The NT1 is an incredibly quiet microphone, measuring only 4.5dBA of self-noise.
Its body is machined from 6061 aluminium and then nickel plated for resistance against corrosion. Finally it is coated in a durable, military-grade ceramic layer, using advanced electrostatic application techniques developed by R˜DE to ensure an extremely hard wearing finish that is resistant to scratches or marks.
The NT1 is supplied with the revolutionary new R˜DE SMR shock mount. Featuring a unique double-Lyre suspension system, the SMR enhances the existing superior vibration cancellation of Rycote' Lyre system by using a smaller inner Lyre to act as a tensioning element. This maintains each Lyre in the neutral position where it is most efficient at cancelling vibration. The SMR' removable all-metal pop filter is as effective as it is visually striking, providing an integrated solution for plosive protection that is easily washable and designed to last as long as the shock mount and microphone.
The NT1 is designed and made in Australia, and is covered by R˜DE's industry-leading 10 year warranty.

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1 Cardioid Condenser Microphone:
I've amassed quite a collection of microphones before I grabbed a pair of NT1's for myself. Local Folks of whose work I admire have given their blessing on this latest NT1. I have no need for a two-thousand dollar microphone for what I do. I'd rather put that money to keep me well in the ballpark instead. I have a very long history with RODE, AKG, Shure, Sennheiser and Audix. Over half of the Microphones I own are RODE. And for great reason. RODE fits my needs like a perfect baseball glove. I tend to be loyal to these five manufacturers because they've always fulfilled MY needs, not the needs of others. Audix is all I have on my drums. In MY living room they do the job best. RODE build quality is tops. Australian made, no mystery China stuff here! Great bang for the buck, no shortcuts. You get MORE for what is paid for at the register. Acoustic instruments and vocals are just like I hear. No need to doctor in post. I'm a fan of live performances and I'll only record live. I refuse to track. I refuse to use a click too. I hate sitting at a computer too! Shouldn't take a year to make a decent record. The whole band at once, period. The spontaneity is what I'm after. Run what ya brought. In MY living room, my RODE NT1 is the bomb! Got a second as a back-up. In MY opinion this latest incarnation of the RODE NT1 gives ME exactly what I hear in MY methods of recording in MY living room. Do yourselves a great favor and get two of them. ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a back-up or two on favored gear! Nothing worse than gear-fail! When all others have given up the ghost RODE continues to march on to acquiring a great recording! Never forget that the greatest importance to a great microphone is a great quality cable (Mogami), clean electricity (Furman) and a proper protective case. I couldn't recommend RODE enough. They're an outstanding investment for the money and you'll get a lifetime return on outstanding recordings!
