To celebrate 15 years of the RØDE NT1 and NT1-A, RØDE Microphones has created a revised NT1-A package including a premium shockmount, pop filter, cable, microphone dust cover, and a bonus instructional DVD.
Originally released in 1995, the RØDE NT1 mic is found in professional and project studios the world over. Its combination of clarity, warmth, extended dynamic range and high SPL capability made it an instant classic with professional engineers and home recording artists alike.
Following heavy investment in precision manufacturing, RØDE revised the microphone capsule and electronic design of the NT1, resulting in only 5dB SPL (A-weighted per IEC651) of self noise. Released in 2003 as the NT1-A, it has since become one of the world's biggest selling and most recognizable condenser microphones.
Now RØDE has truly made the NT1-A the complete recording solution by including a premium shockmount with integrated pop filter, high-quality 6m (20') XLR cable, microphone dust cover and even a bonus instructional DVD. Presented by RØDE founder and company president, Peter Freedman, The NT1-A Studio Secrets DVD features a range of tips and techniques to help RØDE NT1-A owners get the most from their new microphone.

I bought this mic a few months ago to use at home in conjunction with my Alexis Docking station/IPAD set up at home for my own little recording deal. It's a great mic. I use it with Garage Band and It can pick up sounds in other rooms like people talking quietly but with the noise gate on in Garage Band you tweak that to pick up as little as you like. It looks cool but bottom line is, it really does work better than anything I've ever had. Well worth the 229 for the bundle I paid.
It's hard to believe you get so much for the money - the mic, a shock mount, pop filter and drawstring pouch. The high quality mic alone would worth the price. It's by far the best I've tried in it's price range. I use it plugged in directly to a USB interface (GuitarRig Session I/O with phantom power) with a tube preamp simulator and vocal compressor (both by Voxengo) and it sounds great on Logic Express and GarageBand. It's slighty crisp, but can easily be EQed and warmed up with room to spare. The low end is solid too. This mic picks up everything, I bet you could even hear a mouse fart. I bought this to replace the cheaper, thin-sounding Behringer B2 Pro and I haven't regretted it once.
Delightful microphone! Well made, good looking, sounds great for all the different voices I do. I am proud to have it in my studio. And comes with a great video on some use techniques. Well done, Rode!!!
Don't let the price fool you this is a very good microphone. I have compared to my Neumann TLM49 and it holds its own just a bit brighter and has more handling noise (use the shock mount included). You can get great results with this if used properly. As far as I am concerned it is best in its class of budget microphones.
I recently purchased this microphone after researching many different microphones. It's awesome to use if your on a budget, but still want a quality microphone for your home studio. Vocals are noticeably different then what they sounded like using my previous, cheaper microphone. This microphone is ideal for a home studio. Also, you can't beat the free shock mount, pop filter, and XLR cable, which are all high quality. Also, if it is necessary with the mixing board or interface you have, pay the extra 40 dollars for the Sterling PHP Phantom Power supply, because it's necessary for the mic to be powered. GET THIS MICROPHONE!
I cannot believe the build quality of this mic and more important the quality of it's sound. Believe it or not this is the only mic in my collection that I don't have to EQ a vocal much or even EQ it at all. This mic is so clean and clear even singing right up close into it. I believe this mic will bennefit any type of voice or instrument. I haven't used it to record accoustic guitar yet and will post a review of the results. Don't let the price fool you on this one. It's not made cheap and it certainly doesn't sound cheap.
This mic was recommended by a Voice Over coach for my deep male voice. Oh, does it fit the bill. I've used the Rode NT1000 and thought that was a great mic, but I LOVE, the NT1-A. The bundle works perfectly, mounted on a studio boom arm in my home studio. As far as the packaging. That came to me from Guitar Center all beat up. (the inner box not the outer box) I almost sent it back because it looked used. I called support they said they would send out another one but, once I plugged it in, No Way was that mic going back. Now I can, audition for those movie trailers.:)
This microphone is really, really good.It has a great sound, the pop filter/shockmount is very beautiful, and the cable cord is perfect. The only problem I'm having is the mastering.Because a high quality vocal DOES NOT go with a low quality instrumental. This is professional microphone, and in order for your music to sound the best it can you have to have professional software and/or equipment. But other then that, WAYYY worth it.
