NT-1A--My first condenser

By Parks

from Upstate New York

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

I use the Rode NT-1A primarily vocal recording, mostly Hip-Hop, but also a bit of Folk and Acoustic Rock as well, and the microphone performs wonderfully. Some complain that the microphone is too airy, and I cannot disagree, it does seem to enjoy adding a bit of sibilance on vocals, but this is easily corrected with EQ, and I also find that if you hang the microphone upside down in front of the vocalist, this tends to reduce this effect quite a bit. Another way to reduce the airy effects of this microphone is to use a windscreen as well as a pop filter in a controlled environment (even if that means a makeshift comforter/carpet booth). The only downside of this microphone is that it lacks versatility of other Large Diaphragm condensers, in that it doesn't have multiple polar patterns. Although this doesn't come up much in the project or home studio where the microphone will most frequently find itself, it does limit its user in some applications (unless of course you bought several of them, but that?s not always reasonable for MS or Blumstein formations for instance). All in all, this is a great microphone and would be a welcome addition to anyone's mic cabinet. (PS--this mic also works great on acoustic guitars and drum overheads in a pinch!)

MAN...THIS IS ONE SERIOUS MIC!

By H2Ro Studios

from Fort Lauderdale, FL

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

I just picked up the NT1-A and WOW...this mike does some major damage on the tracks. The sound is unbelievable and (imitating Marvin) I claim this mike in the name of RODE...isn't that lovely?

My 1st Condensor and my 2nd

By jwarnold

from Houston, TX

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

When I was first starting out in the world of recording I knew that a condenser microphone would be a necessity. After some looking around I decided that the NT1-A was the microphone for me. I was amazed, granted I had never owned a condenser mic before, but wow! There was such clarity and an almost complete lack of noise. I was so impressed that I went out to buy another just because of the variety of situations in which I had found it useful. Though it is not the pinnacle of microphone technology it is an amazing mic for the price

A solid condenser mic

By Marcoloco123

from Arlington, TX

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

This is a solid mic. No knobs, switches, bells or whistles, but an outstanding mic for the money. Very clear and very low background noise. Thought about the AKG 200, but decided to go with the RODE quality. I anticipate on this mic lasting a while.

Best budget mic

By Dogstarr1

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

Yeah, I too had heard all the good reviews and my old mic just wasn't cutting it when recording lead vocals, so being on a bit of a budget, decided to go with the Rode NT1-A, glad I did, just think maybe I should have gone for the matched pair. It every bit as quiet as you've heard, or maybe that should be unheard, it's only 5db's of self noise, which is almost nothing. Though it doesn't have features like a pad, variable patterns, etc., it does have the sound and feel of quality and is probably the best budget mic on the market. Next on my list is the Rode K2, also super quiet and a tube mic! Rode makes some of the best mics for any price, though Blue deserves an honorable mention in that department too.

The RODE to great recordings ends here...

By Heavy G

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Rode Microphones NT1-A Anniversary Model Microphone:

...at least for those that can't plunk down $700 to a G on an AKG414 or something that represents a significant step up. If you are looking to christen your project studio...this is a great place to start. Quiet, clear and with a pleasing overall tone, this mic will hold you over until you are ready to upgrade your gear... Tremendous in every way...and I was able to take the extra dough and fill out my mic cabinet and get Logic LE , too (I was using Garage Band)!
